Here is our implementation of 2 taxonomies…realize it’s not perfect, but for now it works.
March 1, 2012 at 7:15 pm #16107CarlosParticipantLeonard that works great! So I’ll have to be the first to ask….care to share the code you used to pull that off 😉 ?
March 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm #16147RobMemberLeonard is the man! Thanks for sharing dude, looks awesome.
April 17, 2012 at 8:01 am #17984MichelleParticipantHi Leonard,
I’d really like to implement a similar dropdown system on my calendar but would need some more instructions – ie code – to be able to do it. Would you be able to post the code you used?
Thanks,
MichelleApril 17, 2012 at 9:31 am #17995RobMemberYou’re the man of the hour, Leonard – if you still monitor this thread, any chance you can assist?
April 17, 2012 at 6:52 pm #18020MichelleParticipantHi Rob,
I hope you can help – I have just installed both The Event Calendar + the Pro version, but am having trouble with a few things. My site is http://calendar.theglobalyogi.com/events. Firstly I have added a PHP widget in the side bar that filters the events by category. It’s a category (Event category) dropdown which I want to show the calendar with only the events in the selected category, but it isn’t working. It seems to bring up the correct page (for example http://calendar.theglobalyogi.com/events/category/Americas/) but without the calendar grid. Can you tell me how to make this work?
Thanks,
MichelleApril 23, 2012 at 9:40 am #18168JonahParticipantHi Michelle, I don’t see your widget with the category drop down. Where is it?
April 23, 2012 at 3:39 pm #18202MichelleParticipantHi Jonah,
I haven’t put in a dropdown because I still don’t know how to do it – with the categories. I guess I need to work out how to pass the categories first.
Leonard (up top) looks like he’s done it but has left no instructions.
Thanks,
MichelleApril 23, 2012 at 3:43 pm #18203MichelleParticipantPerhaps you could contact Leonard and ask him if he could paste his code / instructions on how to do this category dropdown?
Just an idea…April 23, 2012 at 3:56 pm #18204MichelleParticipantJavier (page 1) has also done this (http://www.yllana.es/calendario-de-gira-yllana/Mes/) but also unfortunately left no code / instructions…
April 26, 2012 at 2:57 pm #18330RobMemberHey Michelle. Have you checked whether anyone has done it in the Showcase thread (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/showcase-2-0/), who you may be able to reach out to? Most of the users who have shared their work in that thread are pretty active here on the forums and would likely see any question you asked in the thread there…
May 3, 2012 at 7:42 am #18599ChristinaParticipantRob, Michelle,
Here’s some code for you. It queries all the Event Calendar categories, and then displays them in a dropdown. You can create multiple dropdowns by appending the array to include a “child_of” argument.

I hope this helps.
ChristinaMay 3, 2012 at 11:29 am #18628JonahParticipantThanks for the code Christina!
May 20, 2012 at 6:56 pm #19427SheilaParticipantThis is a helpful thread. Thanks. I just wanted to add +1 for being able to filter multiple categories. I’m working with an arts coalition and they want folks to be able to filter by both city and art form.
May 21, 2012 at 10:50 am #19453JonahParticipantThanks for your vote Sheila, we understand this is an important feature and will consider it for an upcoming feature 🙂
I’m closing out this thread since it’s becoming quite long. If anyone wants to continue the discussion on it, please open up a new thread.
