GuestIs it possible to create a WP user role that allows someone only to add events and not have access to the rest of the back end of the site? And if so, is it possible that they can then only edit the events that they have made and not any other events?
I have a website with a calendar for an organization that has several sub-groups. Each sub group has it’s own schedule of meetings. I want the leaders of each sub group to be able to add their meetings to the calendar on the website but then to only be able edit/delete the meetings for their own group.
Thanks!

MemberHello Kelly and happy Friday!
Yeah, you could certainly manage existing and custom user roles using a plugin like User Role Editor. For example, you could create a new user role called Event Admin and set the role permissions to only submit events in the WP admin.
Another option is to check out our Community Events add-on. It provides a submission form on your site that allows folks to submit events to the calendar and for you to moderate those submissions. Just another option at your disposal. 🙂
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know.
Cheers!

GuestThanks! One thing I’m still wondering is if it’s possible to make it so that people can only edit/update events that they created. I want them to do this while logged into the site because I don’t want the general public to be able to submit events (like is the case with the Community Events add-on), I just want a certain group of people to be able to submit/edit/delete events.

MemberOh yeah, then Community Events might be the best way to go. That will create a page that those who submit events can view to see all of their published events and make edits from there as opposed to having access to everyone else’s events.
Cheers!
