    Hi,
I had submitted a question here:

WooTickets & Events Calendar Pro or just Events Calendar for a recurring series

It was answered by Barry. I had a followup question, but was unable to post it there due to a strange message: “Error: You must select a status option”. So I have closed that post and am answering my followup questions here:

    1) Since I am using WooCommerce, I should buy WooTickets, right?
    2) What is the behavior of WooTickets when used with a recurring event in Events Calendar Pro? How does it work? Is there documentation or a video?

    Thanks very much!

Hi again Kevin: we’re experiencing a few technical issues with our forum and support tools at the moment. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience – for the time being posting follow-ups like this one is the best course of action (though we appreciate not ideal and it is something we’ll address as quickly as we can).

    1) Since I am using WooCommerce, I should buy WooTickets, right?

Yes: WooCommerce Tickets would be the correct addon in that case.

    2) What is the behavior of WooTickets when used with a recurring event in Events Calendar Pro? How does it work? Is there documentation or a video?

Officially, recurring events are not supported at this time.

In practice, though, if you create a new event, provide a recurrence pattern and add one or more tickets then the ticket form will display on all instances of those events. It’s important to note that they would relate to the very same ticket products, too. Essentially then:

    • In the case of an event that recurs on 4 occasions, buying a ticket for the third instance is no different to buying a ticket for first, second or fourth instances
    • No mechanism is built-in to let you differentiate between them (ie, you as the merchant cannot detect after the sale has taken place which instance they bought the ticket for, unless you built a customization to facilitate this of course)
    • Inventory is effectively pooled: if you set the stock as 50 and customers buy 3 tickets from the first instance and 7 from the fourth instance, the total available inventory will now be 40

Again this is really an unintentional side-effect and even if this behaviour meets your requirements it is not something we’d recommend building upon (and you might reasonably expect to hit one or two other quirks, too). At the very least, we’d recommend you proceed with caution. Does that clarify things?

If you need to create a new thread to carry on the conversation please feel free (and sorry once again for the added extra step).
