ParticipantI have tried everything but can not get the normal WordPress sidebar widgets to work. I managed to get it working on a test site with only the standard events calendar. On my proper events site I run the filter bar and ECP in the Photo view
I need the sidebar for some ads I would like to run as well as a Optin form for an events newsletter. Do I miss something here. I am not a coder but can follow instructions 🙂 http://www.want2what.comSeptember 13, 2017 at 5:54 am #1348508Courtney
MemberHi Frans
The best starting point for this sort of work is out Themer’s Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/ – but essentially you would probably want to override and customize our default-template.php template (and also set Default Event Template as the template to use from within the Events > Settings > Display screen).
Thanks

ParticipantHi Courtney
I am not sure exactly what file to look at but this one seems to be the problem!
widgets/list-widget.php – Contains the list widget included with the premium Events PRO plugin: this overrides any existing template at widgets/list-widget.php (outside of the pro subdirectory). Note that the template will still be respected up until it is removed or a new one is created within the pro subdirectory
Unfortunately I do not have a test platform to test.
Is there a way to temporary deactivate it to check or am I on the wrong track here.Target
I want to be able to use the normal widgets as in my theme to be able to
Insert Ads
Botons
Optin formsYou do not have a plugin that deactivate / Reactivate the widgets?
I appreciate the help Kind Regards Frans

MemberHi Frans
We suggest using a staging server or duplicating your site to a sub-directory on your host while making these changes. Unfortunately, we’re limited in helping with styling customizations, per our Scope of Support / Terms.
If you’d like to find a developer to do this for you, I’d suggest our Find A Customizer guide.
Thanks

ParticipantThanks for the help so far. I would have really thought that this request would be more common and that a standard solution would have been available or even a plugin (Extension) like some of the other solutions I have seen under Extensions Library.
An other route could be to embed the “widgets” inside the event posts? (Event view) this can work even better as it will be shared to other platforms every time the event is shared with social media sharing tools. Really scope for a plugin (extension) of sorts
For the Photo and list view the plugin (Extension) could display Ads in a predetermined loop between the events or change the layout into 2 columns and use one of the sides for the basic widgets

MemberHi Frans,
A simple workaround would be to make use of a different page besides events. We do offer Calendar View Shortcodes and Widget Shortcodes. You could use those on any post/page you create.
Another option that displays widgets on single events is to test how your page looks when you change these settings: Events » Settings » Display » Events template and switch this to default page template.

Would either of these work for you?
Thanks
