ParticipantHi guys,
I understand you don’t help with custom code or anything, but I was hoping you could direct me to a file that I can edit.
I see when I add a new event it takes me to “mysite.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=tribe_events”
I pulled up my post-new.php file, but I don’t see any of the fields that show up when I add a new event, so some how this file is pulling in “post-type=tribe_events” from somewhere. Do you guys know where this is? All I am trying to do, is add another field to my “location panel” so it shows up, I don’t want to create a custom field, because that is for backend viewing only.May 2, 2016 at 4:13 pm #1109801Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Rob and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.Just to set expectations, you are 100% right, the scope of our support is mostly to get our customers started on the right track and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.
Actually the tribe_events post type uses the WordPress loop so in essence it behaves exactly like a “normal” post (except for the name and the meta data). This is why you are not seeing anything special in the post-new.php file.
Your best bet would probably be to simply use a custom field plugin that would add the fields to the tribe_events post type
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantAhh I see, and I got that method to work, now I can include room number, however the community bundle that I purchased doesn’t reflect the new “advanced custom field” I made. Is there a bug or something that I would need to do?

MemberHey Rob,
I don’t believe that there is a bug, however it’s hard to know for sure based on the limited support I can provide on this topic.
That being said, adding the custom field to the post type does not necessarily mean that it will be returned by default when viewing the event.
It is very likely that you will need to do some template customization or to use a filter to do so.If you are still stuck with this, I would advise that you hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.
Another much simpler solution, would be to take advantage of our Pro additional fields: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-additional-fields/
I realize you are only looking to use these in the backend, but perhaps you could simply hide them from the front-end via CSS.
Have a great day!
