I’ve just updated to 4.1 and am finding that the week view has gone. Both my weekly calendar at http://hills4thrills.com/activities/week/ and my embedded week calendar widgets, for example http://hills4thrills.com/blog/activities/training-runs/summary-feb-22-feb-28/ (should be 2 on this page) are now gone. Could you please let me know how I can fix this asap?! Thanks.

Actually, none of the widgets on my site are there anymore!

Good evening Paul and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the missing view and widgets after the upgrade. That certainly was not our intention.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I went ahead and looked at your site. One thing I did notice about the week view is that it seems to be set to draft (see code below)

    <div id="post-0" class="post-0 page type-page status-draft hentry">

Perhaps this is because you deactivated the view in the meantime ?

Other than that, I am noticing that there seems to be some template customizations on your views (as you can probably attest from confirming there is a /tribe-events folder in your theme). Our first goal would be to establish if the cause of the issue is that the customization might need updating (based on the code found in 4.1).

The first test I would suggest conducting (preferably in a staging/test environment) would be to temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty-fifteen and see if the week view and widgets are still gone.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Hi Geoff

I haven’t deactivated anything. If there’s something in the code that shouldn’t be, it’s been added with the 4.1 update. I tried switching to the Twenty-fifteen theme, but that didn’t fix the issue. There are indeed some customizations, which I received via Events Calendar support and I suppose this may be causing the issues. I’m happy to go ahead and update this if you can spot something that isn’t right.

    Hey Paul,

    Thanks for your answer.

I think we are both saying the same thing but with different angles on it. We are both looking forward to this working for you (as opposed to being broken) 🙂

What you are describing is true: things stopped working properly after the 4.1 update for you.

That being said, there could be a few different reasons for that (finding what the cause is will help us fix it):

    1. There is a bug in 4.1 , That is very possible since we unfortunately had several issues with that last update (we are working on fixing them as fast as possible).
    2. Version 4.1 breaks the customizations you have made (which doesn’t seem to be the case because switching to twenty fifteen would remove them temporarily). As a side note, any new version of our plugin might mean that you need to update customizations accordingly.
    3. Version 4.1 has a compatibility issue with one of your other plugins installed. Which you can verify by going through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out. Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

Either way, the draft status in the HTML of the week view is very strange. Ideally if you could go through the testing for conflicts procedure it would be super awesome.

But for now you can downgrade the plugins to version 4.0.7. You’ll find the past versions for our premium plugins in the download section of your account in this site (https://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads/) and you’ll find the core plugin (The Events Calendar) past versions here:https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/developers/.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Hi Geoff – it’s sorted! I did the rollback to 4.0.7 and this did not fix anything. I also deactivated other plugins and still nothing. Finally, I thought I’d check the widget containers and found that they were all empty. The update must have somehow stripped them all out. So, I updated back to 4.1 and added the widgets back to where they needed to be. That was all it was!

Thanks for all your efforts and if you see this come up again, that’s where to start!
