GuestHi,
I’m trying to work out how to set up the functionality for a site that will advertise it’s own mindfulness events/workshops/courses and will accept payment for these.
It will also allow signed in users (mindfulness teachers we’ve trained) to add their own events/workshops/courses but will direct users to other sources for payment for these. I’m also thinking of integrating bbPress so those users can discuss teaching methods/queries.
So I’m thinking EC Pro with Community Events and Tickets Plus. My questions:
– Does this sound like it will support what I need?
– We don’t require ‘tickets’ as such, so is tickets Pro overkill?
– Does the front-end signup through Community Events integrate with bbPress? Would they have to sign up again? How would the two integrate?Kind thanks for your help,

MemberHello Jenny — welcome and hope you had a great weekend!
Great questions. To be totally honest, I am not completely sure how well The Events Calendar and bbPress integrate. We actually use bbPress to help power these forums, so we do have a little bit of familiarity there. What I can say is that Community Events does require a sign-up but it goes through the normal WordPress process, which is very similar to bbPress. In fact, once someone has registered to the site from Community Events, then they technically are “in the system” and bbPress ought to recognize them as community members.
As far as the Community Events form integrating directly with bbPress, though, that is something I think would take custom development, depending on what needs to be integrated.
– We don’t require ‘tickets’ as such, so is tickets Pro overkill?
Yeah, sounds like Event Tickets Plus might be unnecessary in this case. It connects our free Event Tickets plugin with an ecommerce plugin (like WooCommerce) to create and sell tickets. But if selling tickets isn’t going to be a component of the site, then you can certainly do without it.
Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!
