GuestHey, I am building a site that needs a waitlist feature. I have already set up a site with your “Events Calendar” plugin and the “Events Tickets Free” add-on. It seems like most of the features I need are already installed, minus the waitlist feature. Based on my research it seems like I have a couple of options:
- I can buy WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Tickets plugin and the WooCommerce Waitlist add on.
- I can buy the Events Tickets Pro add-on.
Just to clarify, all my tickets are free and I want to do this using as little plugins as possible so it seems like the WooCommerce method is overkill. However, I haven’t seen the Wait List feature on Events Tickets Pro in action and I am a curious as to how it works. Also, how do I implement it and can I get the Event Tickets Pro add on for a trial period to see if it fits my requirements? Thank you for your help.

ParticipantHi Dan,
None of our plugins have a “wait list” feature as I understand that, but can you elaborate on your specific goals there? With that information I might be able to offer some more insight here.
I would like to note, as well, that the core plugin Event Tickets (which Event Tickets Plus is just a premium add-on to! but Event Tickets itself is free) has the “RSVP” feature. These are free “reservations” for events, with not charge or checkout process…and since it’s free, you should play around with it firsthand if this sounds like a useful thing → http://wordpress.org/plugins/event-tickets

You mention a trial version of software, and unfortunately at this time we do not have any such program 🙁 We have a 100% no-questions-asked 30 day refund policy, which is the closest we get to a trial period—if you try our code and it doesn’t meet your needs, follow the steps here within 30 days of purchase and we will issue a 100% refund immediately → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/refund-policy/
I hope this information helps!
Thanks,

GuestHmm ok thanks for the insight here. What I want to do is once the RSVP tickets fill up instead of showing a “Out of Stock” message on the page I still want to have the form open. Then, if a user tries to sign up they will get a different message saying something like “Sorry this event is at capacity but if someone drops out we will notify you.” Then if a user does end up deleting their reservation the first user on the waiting list will take their place. Can I add a workaround using WordPress hooks to achieve this?

ParticipantHey Dan,
Thanks for your followup here. What you describe here is technically possible, but only if you yourself can write all of the custom code to do this. We cannot help with custom coding like this at all, so unfortunately you would have to take the reins on your custom “Out of Stock” handling.
If you are not able to write that code yourself, then you would have to hire someone to help you write that. We have a list of great developers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1 (and have no affiliation with any of these folks!—they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that we’ve compiled to share in situations like this one).
