GuestIn the demo, after submitting a Community Event, the “View” link takes the user back to the main calendar. I don’t know if this is done because the event is awaiting approval, or if it works this way for all events. If it’s because it’s awaiting approval, then it would be better to display a message stating that the event cannot be viewed because it is awaiting approval, rather than simply taking the user to the full calendar view, which could well be confusing. If it’s done this way for all events, including those which are published immediately, then I think it’s a bug. Clicking view after submitting an event should take the user directly to that event.
There is a “status” column in the My Events view, but that just contains an icon of piece of paper. If that is supposed to represent “awaiting approval” then I don’t really think it accomplishes its aim. At the very least, it should have hover pop-up indicating what it means.
My question, really, is have I correctly understood how this is working? Is this how it would appear on my site?

MemberHi there Phil,
Thanks for reaching out and also for your interest in Community Events. I’ll try to clarify a bit:
In the demo, after submitting a Community Event, the “View” link takes the user back to the main calendar. I don’t know if this is done because the event is awaiting approval…
In fact that’s the default behavior for ‘Pending approval’ events. If events are set to be published right away that link would take you to the ‘single event page’. I get you point about pending approval events, if that’s the case of your site you can always add a note or hide the link in there via CSS.
Regarding the icon and the look-n-feel of ‘My Events’ section this is how it’s displayed in TweentyFifteen default WordPress theme: https://cloudup.com/cL2D5RhSFOo – A clock icon works better than the paper one, I agree with you again! The icons have an ‘alt’ property in place so if you leave the mouse hover it will show the status name – not fancy at all I guess, but again this could be customized to fit the user needs.
The demo site is an example of how things can look with a bit of customization, we’ve chatting with the team about setting up a plain TweentyFifteen demo as well not to incorrectly set users expectations regarding the design of the plugin front-end. Do you think that might be a good idea?
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this,
Best,

GuestHi Nico,
Thanks for the response. The behaviour that you describe for default twentyfifteen theme sounds fine. I do think the demo should show the out-of-the-box experience without any customisations.
In this case, though, I think there must be a problem with the customisations. The experience using the demo is much worse than the behaviour you describe with twentyfifteen. If you have a look at the screenshot I uploaded, you’ll see that there appears to be no formatting at all. The View, Edit and Delete links are in a tiny font below the Event Name. There is not pop-up on hovering over the paper icon, and there is no table formatting.

GuestI’ve marked the question as resolved by your above reply, but one quick question has occurred to me. You mention that the demo is customised. Is the Photo view that appears in the demo customised? I’d like to know how it looks out of the box.

MemberHey Phil,
Thanks for following-up on this, and for your feedback about the ‘demo’ site – I’ll make sure to bring it up when we chat we the team next time.
Regarding photo view, it looks pretty much the same as in the demo site – take a look at the screenshot section in the Events Calendar Pro product page. Of course the event needs to have a ‘featured image’ set, if not it will be listed but without the photo.
Please let me know if I can help you out with anything else and thanks for the feedback once again,
Hope to see you on board as a customer soon,
Have a great weekend,
