ParticipantGreetings
I think I am facing the same issue. I had some ddos attack 2 days ago, targeted at xmlrpc and wp-login. that was fixed. but also after all the fixes, the website was running slowly, and the server load was sometimes over 140, usually its around 3-4. deactivating the events calendar plugin brought the number of mysql queries from around 3k per second to 1k per second on a server basis. And it was just one site in question. So there is something terribly wrong with the number of queries present. Running dedicated cloudlinux machine, latest wp and plugin version on php56 and php-fpm with varnish. Even that combination could not withstand around 200 users online. On frontpage we only have calendar widget in the footer with one event displayed, and one fixed page with the calendar. But the biggest concert is a drop of 2k queries per second while the plugin is being disabled. I am afraid that activating it back will again produce the same issue. Server is more than capable of serving around 4k users online, tested in real life conditions. At about 200 online, with plugin activated, I get a almost nonresponsive server even via ssh, and loads up to 140. Server is a xeon 6 core with 32Gb of ram

KeymasterHello Barbara,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
I’m sorry you are experiencing a performance issue which might be connected to our plugins. The issue in the other thread likely has to do (at least partially) with the complex filtering with our Filter Bar plugin. Are you using the same?
Thanks for sharing the details of your hosting, that is very helpful. Could you please also share your system information with me?
And while I know that on a live site it is almost always impossible to run a test for conflicts, would it be possible for you to set up a test site (a copy of the current one) and run a test following our conflict testing guide?
Thanks and cheers,

KeymasterHello Barbara,
Thanks for getting back to me on that.
I’ll be waiting for the conflict testing results.
Meanwhile it would help us if you could do the following quick test:
Leave everything as it is, only switch off Event Aggregator under Events > Settings > Imports > Event Aggregator Control (https://cloudup.com/cMtAPdavRFz)
Does this make any difference? (I believe this you could do also on the live site as it will not affect what is shown only disables Event Aggregator until you switch it back.)
Thanks,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

MemberHi Barbara!
Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release (for the Week of 2 October 2017) is out, including a tweak in Filter Bar that improves performance by swapping out LEFT JOINs for INNER JOINs in SQL queries.
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-2-october-2017/
In addition to this improvement, we are also planning to support setting a limit on the number of filters that can be applied concurrently.
For the moment, we’d appreciate if you could update the plugins and see if the tweak works for your site. Don’t hesitate to open a new topic if anything comes up.
Best,
Victor -
