Is there a way to limit the venue list to show only what the user has set up or (owns) ? It may cause problems down the road if a user accidentally posts at somebody else’s venue..

Thanks for reaching out. There is no security around adding a venue to an event. You could always hide the ‘Venue’ dropdown (see this post), if you want to force your users to enter in the Venue information manually.
The other option would be to require all Event Submissions be moderated by an admin before publishing to the site. Then the venue information could be verified first.
