Using the map view in shortcode and specify the city

Hey there,

Is there a way to provide an address or city to limit the shortcode map view when used on a page?

As an example if I have an events in San Francisco and New York, I would like to put the shortcode on a page which only shows the events in each city via the map view. [tribe_events view=”map”]. Are there any extra options with the shortcode to limit this view geographically?

Unfortunately there is not an out-of-the-box way to do this, but a potential workaround would be to use categories. You could create categories for different areas and assign them to events and then specify the category in the shortcode.

We do have a snippet to show venues in map view, but I know that’s not quite what you’re looking for. I would recommend posting this as a feature request over in our Feature Ideas Forum. This is what we use to gauge user interest in new features and help guide future development efforts.

Another option would be to do a customization – to add a “location” parameter to the existing shortcode or to create your own. If you’d like to give it a shot, our themer’s guide is the place to start! We also have a list of recommended developers if you’d like to get help with the code.
