Hi Events Calendar, I love what you are doing, I have a job on where the client wants to set up to sell holiday short breaks, Combined with Pro, Event Ticket Plus and WooCommerce so people can pay a down-payment and book a place I wonder if this would be possible / suitable.

I would be building main pages for the particular holiday and show “Upcoming Dates” for that Category in the sidebar.
Do you know of any existing sites that have used it in this way?

Anyhow I am about to use the pro version in a more traditional way, it really is a lovely plugin so hats off to you.

    Hey Chris,

Thanks so much for the kind words! We put a lot of heart and pride into our work, so hearing this type of feedback really lifts the entire team’s spirits and is much appreciated. 🙂

I can’t say that I know of any sites using our plugins that way, but it is certainly an interesting idea.

The sticky thing in my mind is the process for taking partial payments or deposits. Our plugins are unable to split payments up like that, but I do know of a WooCommerce extension called WooCommerce Deposits that does. I also found this recent post that covers the setup of it and might be a handy resource.

I have to admit that I have not tested this integration personally. I would suggest giving the plugins a test drive on your installation to make sure they all work well. You already know that we offer a full refund on all purchases within 30 days of purchase, and WooCommerce has a fairly similar policy that would allow you to do the same.

As far as getting a sidebar with upcoming events in the same category as the current event, that will take a little bit of custom development, but is certainly doable.

I also want to offer a reminder that Events Calendar PRO includes the ability to show “related” events on an event page right out of the box. You could use that built-in functionality as is (it pulls events from the same category as the current event) or use or you could override the single event template to display the related events elsewhere on the page. Either way, just wanted to throw that out there as an option.

Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the response. I think I can build landing pages for each holiday and then show the dates for that holiday as a filtered category via a widget so I think it might work for my client as he just wants to take partial payment “deposit” a one off payment. I will have a mess around in the future. Thanks for the info on the WooCommerce deposits plugin. That’s interesting.

Anyhow will see how I get on. This is part of a future plan for a client.

Either way I will be using your pro-plugin in the future whenever I can. Wish you all the best.

    Regards
    Chris

Heck yeah, thanks so much Chris! Keep us in the loop when this is built out — I’d be stoked to see how it all turns out.

I’ll go ahead and close this thread in the meantime but definitely let us know if any other questions pop up and we’d be happy to help. 🙂

Cheers and have a great weekend!

    Geoff
