ParticipantHello,
I’ve bought the event calendar today and I need individual user roles for admins, editors and subscribers. For this I’ve downloaded the plugin “user role editor”. Normal user role wordpress functions like creating categories/post/pages are editable without any problems. It is also possible to edit custom capabilities where the event calendar created different roles: http://awesomescreenshot.com/09b4l5hzfa
After I unchecked all unnecessary user roles and click on update, the changes are not saved. Is there any barrier to reverse the changes I’ve made? Or is there any possibility manually editing user roles?
Thanks!
Best regards,

ParticipantAlso another user role plugin (WPFront User Role Editor) doesn’t work with updating the event calendar custom user capabilities.

ParticipantBecause of the missing edit function in the forum, one more post: Even the members plugin you recommended doesn’t work.

MemberHi,
Sorry for the issues you are having.
We create the capabilities for the Events Calendar through WordPress’s functions to do that. There is nothing custom about how we do that.
I have the User Role Editor and was able to make changes without issues just now. Perhaps there is a javascript error in your admin that causes the problem as the User Role Editor plugin replies on javascript to verify you want to save.
Are you able to look into the console in your browser and see if there are any errors there?
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks

ParticipantHello,
thanks for the fast answer! It’s really weird, I deactivated all the plugins I’ve installed except Calendar and User Role Editor. Unfortunately it doesn’t work either. When I am editing other roles like subscribers, contributors etc. it works just fine, only editors are a problem. No errors in the console.
Do you know what this could be?
Thanks!

MemberThat is strange.
I just tried on my test site on the Editor Role and it worked again.
Are you able to try with another theme or on another site and see if that resolves it?

MemberUnfortunately, we have a new policy and I am unable to access any admin areas even on a test site and I have removed the account information.
That is strange that it is happening for you on your sites and I was able to get it to work.
I am not sure what we are doing differently to cause this, but if you can use contributor as your second role I would go down that route and maybe revisit in the next version of our plugin and the User Role Editor.

ParticipantHello,
sorry that I have to ask you again, but I have to use the predefined roles in wordpress. Furthermore it starts happening not only with editor, but also with contributor and author. Other capabilities from wordpress and other plugins are easily editable, only capabilities from tec make troubles.
I’ve tried it also manually in the database and deleted all unnecessary capabilities, with the same result. After refreshing the site the deleted capabilities pop up again. I suggest that the function for creating the standard capabilities during the installation could cause this problem.
Do you can tell me where I can exclude this function? Do you have another solution?
Thanks!

MemberThe capabilities for the Events Calendar are created in this file around line 1130:
the-events-calendar\lib\the-events-calendar.class.php
I know you said you started on a clean install, but running through the testing for conflicts guide my reveal where the issue is:
Not sure what else we can do as I was not able to replicate this error on my sites.
Thanks

ParticipantHello,
thanks! After I have commented out all unnecessary capabilities, it works fine. It seems to update the caps regardless of the user role editor.
