ParticipantI have a Google Calendar link that a client sent me, and I located the ICS file for it and imported it into my events calendar. Everything works in my events calendar (Venue link, Google Maps link) except for the URL links for the event itself, which happen to be FaceBook Events. The links work fine in the Google Calendar, but when imported into my events calendar, the links are not clickable…they have to be copied and pasted into a browser separately.
Is there an import setting I’m missing?

KeymasterHi Derek,
Thanks for getting in touch.
No, there is no separate setting for that. I would be curious to see where that url is in the original source. Could you share with me a screenshot of an event in google cal which has a URL?
Also if you can share the url feed with me, then I can run some tests as well.
Cheers,

ParticipantAh, that makes sense, thank you! That particular event is one I imported from FB into my Google Calendar. The other events that were supplied to me from a client did not have the “Website” at the bottom. But that is because he was creating new events in Google Calendar and not using the “link” feature to input the URL..he was just copying and pasting from the FB Event description.
On another note, here is my workaround on getting FB Events into my Events Calendar:
https://www.technipages.com/add-facebook-events-to-google-calendarI go to all the upcoming cigar events and click “Interested.” Then FB syncs with my Google calendar, which I then have set up in the Aggregator to import daily. Not an easy task, but it works for now.
I did note that I had to change the beginning of the iCal ICS URL from webcal to https to get the import to work in the Google Calendar. And the downside to that is that FB won’t auto-update the Google Calendar when I select Interested on other new events, so I will have to remove the calendar from Google and re-import it each time.

KeymasterHi,
Thanks for your reply, happy to hear my previous answer helped to clarify the case.
Also thanks for sharing your workaround for importing Facebook events. Have you tried importing that webcal url (with or without ‘webcal://’) into your WordPress site whether that works? (After clicking the interested and all.) Just curious.

ParticipantI tried importing the webcal URL directly into my Events Calander, with the “webcal://” and also changing it to “https://” but it says “Your preview doesn’t have any records to import” even though I have some FB Events I’m “interested” in.
I also tried clicking on “interested” on new FB Events after I set up the sync with Google Calendar and the auto-import into the Events Calendar, but Google Calendar would not add the newer events from FB. So I deleted the Scheduled Import link, and now whenever I find more FB Events and click Interested on them, I have to remove the added calendar from Google Calendar, copy the webcal link from FB (which doesn’t change) and re-add it to the Google Calendar. Then I have to wait 3 hours or more for FB Events to sync with Google Calendar, and THEN import the pubic Google Calendar link into the Events Calendar as a one-time import.
Kind of a pain, but it works…

KeymasterOh man, that’s rough.
We are trying to do all we can to get Facebook imports working again. If I know correctly we are waiting for some kind of a reply from them.
If something happens then we will definitely post it in our blog and you can also track it here.
Is there anything else before we close this?

ParticipantThanks for the update, hopefully FaceBook will realize that it’s only hurting the businesses by not letting us share the information to others!
I’m good, we can close this, thanks so much for your help!
