Upgrading from Events Calendar to Events Calenadar Pro

We’re currently using The Events Calendar. It does not do recurring events, so we’re upgrading to Pro which does.

My question is this: What’s the right way to upgrade without losing the existing events?

Does a straight swap out work?

Do I have to export the free calendar (and if so, how?), then import into the Pro (which I know how to do)?

And since I can’t find a damn thing about this on this site, where should I have looked before posting this question?

To answer this question, specifically, you do NOT want to deactivate The Events Calendar (TEC) core/free plugin. You just want to download and install the TEC PRO add-on to your site. They run alongside each other, together.
