ParticipantThanks Casey. I guess moving to my server I should’ve tried doing both at once again (new theme AND deactivating plugins). Of course I’d already done that on the old server. So now the work begins to see if it’s the theme or a plug-in and which one(s). I’ll post back the results. thanks.

ParticipantSo now I’ve gone back to the first staging site on the other server and what it seems like is that SOME events work on both and some don’t. I’m looking for why. Thinking it could be to do with the date formats as I change that in the new configuration. I’ll keep adding plug-ins back and see where I go with this. It takes a lot of back and forth.
Meanwhile, I have another question. I was sure I’d done this on the first install but now I don’t see where…. I need to remove the repeated event titles and next/previous. That could be in the theme but I’m not finding it. I thought it was an option in ECP to toggle them off. If so, where please and thank you?

ParticipantSheila,
Try switching over to ‘Tribe Styles’ in ‘Events->Settings->Display’ and see if that does the trick.June 20, 2014 at 9:46 pm #239918Sheila
ParticipantCasey, I was able to deal with the duplicated stuff with CSS (hiding some). The Tribe Style is much worse for me.
Meanwhile I spent a lot of time on the troubleshooting today and made you a video: http://screencast.com/t/2ZPmz8pISS1S

ParticipantSheila,
Thanks for the in-depth video walkthrough! I’m curious to see if there might be something weird going on with some of these events that were created pre-upgrade. Could you try creating a new event with the exact same content (same dates, descriptions, etc) as one of these problem events and see if you get the same results?I’m so sorry this is such a hassle for you, but let me know what you discover and we can troubleshoot further if needed. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantTis a puzzle. I added a new event (from scratch) using the same info as another event and got page not found. I thought it was odd they put the time in the event date and wondered if that had an impact. So I tried it w/o the time also. Neither worked. Both give the 404 page not found error. It put the Neely Mansion Open House on today (6/23). Here’s the direct link to it http://tribe.hoffmangraphics.com/events/neely-mansion-open-house/ and you get the 404. This is still using default theme and NO plug-ins. Something is very off here.

ParticipantSheila,
Please try installing this third-party plugin, event rocket, which has the ability to delete all Events-related data from your WordPress install (Note: Please make sure to back up your database prior to doing this, if you want to keep your event data). I suspect that something weird is going on with your Events data, and would like to see if clearing out the data and trying to create new events with fresh data fixes the issue.I know this wouldn’t be an ideal solution, and, I’m sorry that this is such an inconvenience, but I suspect that this is a side-effect of trying to upgrade from such an old version, as we’ve changed the data structure considerably since version 2.x.
Please give that a try and let me know what you discover. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantSorry it’s been so long. I’ve been awaiting approval on my fee before doing any more. I’m still waiting for that but thought I’d see if this latest recommendation fixes it. I’ve installed Event Rocket on the test site but I do not see any way to do anything with it. It’s not intuitive! Please advise. And is this the only remedy available at this point?

ParticipantSheila,
Take a look at their screenshots here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/event-rocket/screenshots/. The data cleanup page is under the ‘Tools’ section. The only other option I see would be to start with a fresh WordPress install, install the latest version of the plugins, install your theme, and then see if you’re still having the same issues.Just let me know if I can assist further. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantThis is so weird. The only plug-ins I have active are TEC & TEC Pro and Event Rocket. It does NOT display the tools shown in the screen captures. You still have a login. You want to take a look and tell me what I’m missing?! this is CRAZY!

ParticipantSheila,
Unfortunately it’s our policy to remove user credentials (even one’s posted in private replies) immediately after we’ve used them. It looks like there’s a bigger issue going on with your particular WordPress install, or something weird is going on with your theme. At this point, I would try a clean WordPress install to see if these issues persist. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantDUH…I read some of their forum. I had to deactivate EC & ECP to see the tools! Will try this now and report back soon.

ParticipantThat’s a relief! Please let me know what you discover. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantOK…I’ve successfully cleared out the old and added one test event. Have the same issue. Then I disabled the theme, still issue. Then disabled all plug-ins and still issue. SO….at this point it’s something to do with my WP install? Very frustrating indeed.

ParticipantSheila,
Now that you’ve cleared out your Event data, could you try flushing your WordPress permalinks again, just to make sure we’ve covered our bases. If the issue still persists, then I would try a fresh install of WordPress, since that’s the only thing we haven’t tried yet.I’m definitely sorry for this frustrating ordeal, but unfortunately this is why we recommend to our customers that they update their plugins frequently to avoid potential upgrade issues.
Thanks! 🙂
