ParticipantI’m trying to troubleshoot an installation (inherited from another developer). I duplicated the site on my local server and attached the Events Calendar license key to my local installation. However, the “Tribe Events” menu item isn’t showing up in WP admin on the local installation. I see “Events,” but when I select that, the “Add New” option is missing. “Tags” is the top item in the submenu, and the Tags admin is displayed by default when “Events” is selected.
Back on the live production server, I see “Tribe Events” with an “Add New” option, with the existing events displayed by default when “Tribe Events” is selected.
How can I fix this? Thanks for your help.

ParticipantMaybe I should move on to the immediate problem: fixing the live production site. I’ve now moved the license key back there.
The problem on the live site is that when I create a new event, it doesn’t hold the date I select after I publish or update. And then, it doesn’t show up on the calendar.
Let me know if you would like to log in to the WP admin there.
Thanks!

MemberHi Joanne and thanks for reaching out! Sorry about the trouble here, but let’s look at it together.
The problem on the live site is that when I create a new event, it doesn’t hold the date I select after I publish or update. And then, it doesn’t show up on the calendar.
Would you be willing to do two things for me:
- Check the version number of The Events Calendar, Events Calendar PRO and Filter Bar to make sure they are all running the latest version (4.2 or above)
- Head over to Events > Settings > Help, copy the system information at the bottom of the screen and paste it here as a private reply
This will help me try to pinpoint the issue before we get into deeper troubleshooting.
Thanks so much!

MemberThanks so much for the info, Brenda!
Everything looks fine in the settings, which is a good thing. I also tried recreating the same issue on my test site and was unable to–in other words, the date settings for an event hold when publishing a new event.
We did just release The Events Calendar 4.2.2 and Events Calendar PRO 4.2.2 last night. Would you be willing to update to the latest versions to see if that makes a difference in the date settings for events sticking?
If that doesn’t do the trick, then next thing I’ll want to do is test for conflicts with the theme and other installed plugins. Here’s a look at what that will entail, but let’s start by updating the plugins and see where that lands us.
Thanks for working with me on this!

ParticipantHi Geoff, thanks for all your help!
I updated to the latest versions. I got an error message:
Fatal error: Class ‘Tribe__PUE__Plugin_Info’ not found in /home/coating/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar.bak/common/src/Tribe/PUE/Checker.php on line 591
and also this:
The plugin the-events-calendar.bak/the-events-calendar.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.
Then I reactivated the Events Calendar, and was back to the same problem (events not saving).
What next?
Thanks,

MemberAck, so sorry for those errors! Definitely not cool.
Do you have access to your server? For example, are you able to FTP into your site and manage files? If so, updating the plugins manually would help us avoid those errors and we have step-by-step instructions for how to do that.
Let’s give that a shot and get the plugins up to their latest versions before digging in much deeper.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks, Geoff. I’m working on getting FTP access to the site. When I’ve got that, I should just follow the instructions for manually updating the plugins at that link you sent?
July 8, 2016 at 7:59 am #1137227Geoff
MemberAbsolutely. Those instructions will walk you through how to remove the old plugin files from your server and then re-upload directly through the FTP.
What I’m hoping this helps do is clear out any possible files that WordPress is somehow unable to find or transfer, and allow us to have a totally clean slate with the freshest plugins installed.
Then, from there, hopefully the latest versions of the plugin resolve the issue on their own. However, if not, that gives us a better place to start troubleshooting deeper.
Thanks so much for helping with this!

ParticipantHey Geoff, I manually updated both Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro. I’m still having the same problem, though — can’t save a new event properly. (I can create an event, and see it in the admin overview, but it doesn’t save the selected date and it doesn’t appear on the calendar.)
Thanks for your patience.

ParticipantGeoff, I ran through the “Test if there is a conflict” steps. After I switched to the TwentySixteen theme, disabled all non-Tribe plugins, and cleared the cache, I got the problem that I have on my local server (where I duplicated the site and updated everything): There is no New Event option in the Events menu (which used to be named Tribe Events, before the conflict test).
AND, after re-activating the custom theme and all the plugins, the New Event option is still missing! (and the former Tribe Events menu is still labeled Events).
Next step please?? Thanks!!

ParticipantGeoff, something made me look at the wp-config.php file. The very last line in the file was:
define(‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true);
That looked very suspicious to me (like I said, I inherited this project from another developer). Sure enough, after I disabled that, things began to look a lot better. I got the calendar working on my local server and am now in the process of updating the production site. Fingers crossed.

MemberOh heck yeah! That’s an awesome discovery and something I admittedly would not have immediately considered. Definitely let me know if that helps on the production site as well.
Cheers!
