    Hi there,

I have posted this before, and have been told, that this problem should be fixed by now. However, I still have some untranslated or bad translated words, when I create an event. I have looked through ALL the untranslated strings and searched for the specific wrongly translated strings on wordpress.org for: the newest version of wordpress, the events calendar, the events calendar pro and the filter bar. (This takes a long time…) It doesn’t look like these words are untranslated or bad translated, so I suppose the problem must be somewhere else?

The specific words that are not translated can be seen in the two screenshots I have attached. Here comes a list of what is written, and what it should be instead:
“All Begivenheder” SHOULD BE “Alle begivenheder” (All Events)
“Gentagne Begivenhed” SHOULD BE “Gentaget begivenhed” (Repeated Event)
    “Cost” SHOULD BE “Pris”
    “Venue Name” SHOULD BE “Sted”
“Organizer Name” SHOULD BE “Arrangørens navn”

I hope you can help me, as we would like to launch our site soon, and these bad translations make the site look unprofessional.

    Hi playmakerne,

Thanks for reaching out! I’m sorry you are still experiencing translation issues. Let’s try to get to the bottom of this.

I have checked the Danish translation on a local installation and for me all the strings are properly translated. You can see here:
    Cloudup kw1ww2cmcjf

Since you have a couple more strings in the event detail section, I suspect that those come from the theme. If this is the case, then check the translation files of the theme, possibly you will need to translate them there. (These are the strings: Cost, Venue name, Organizer name.)

To check whether it comes from the theme, you just need to switch back to a default theme like twentysixteen. If the string Cost is translated there to Pris, then the translations are working and you will need to check the theme.

“All Begivenheder” SHOULD BE “Alle begivenheder” (All Events)
“Gentagne Begivenhed” SHOULD BE “Gentaget begivenhed” (Repeated Event)

This is a bit different case. These strings come from more places. They are put together from All, Recurring, Events, and Event.

Recurring you will find in the wp-content\plugins\events-calendar-pro\lang\tribe-events-calendar-pro-da_DK.po and you will need to look for the string “Recurring %s“.

The other 3 string come from wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\lang\the-events-calendar-da_DK.po.

You can change the big letters to small letters in these. Note however, that Event and Events might be used in several places, so if you change them to small letters, they will change everywhere to small.

To edit the language files you can use a software like PoEdit.

As a last request, could you please share your system information with me in a private reply? Here’s how you can do that:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Let me know how the theme testing works out.

    Cheers,
    Andras

First of all, thank you very much for your reply.

I changed the theme to twentysixteen, and you are right, the mentioned words are translated in the right way in that theme. Therefore I will try to find the strings for my theme instead, or contact the theme developers.

    The other strings:

Event and Events – I suppose I can live with the small and big letters.

All – seems to be translated correctly at wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\lang\the-events-calendar-da_DK.po. So probably this might also be caused by the conflicting theme?

Recurring – I have suggested some better translations for some of the strings containing this word. I am in doubt though, whether the calendar combines the correct strings, since “Recurring %s” is used, when there are several events, but it is combined with the Danish word for a single event (Begivenhed). In Danish most words adjectives are spelled differently, depending on whether it is put in front of a singular word or a plural word. However, the new word I have suggested in the string is spelled the same way in both singular and plural, so it might not be a problem in this case, if the suggestion is accepted.

    Kind regards
    Christine

    Hello Christine,

I’m happy to hear we are on the right track with this.

On the ‘All’, yes, it could also be in the theme files.

    On recurring:
Just for my understanding, where did you make the recommendations?

And thank you for pointing out the different spelling in singular and plural. There are more languages like that so this is something we might need to take into consideration. I’ll flag it internally so we can provide better options for translation.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Andras,

I suggested the changes here: http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects/tribe-events-calendar-pro/da/default?filters%5Bterm%5D&filters%5Buser_login%5D&filters%5Bstatus%5D=current_or_waiting_or_fuzzy_or_untranslated&sort%5Bby%5D=original&sort%5Bhow%5D=asc&sorts=Sort&page=11

Thank you for taking the singular and plural spelling into consideration – it might seem like a small thing, but spelling mistakes sends quite an unprofessional signal, so it means a lot to us.

I think this is all for now.

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind Regards
    Christine

    Hi Christine,

Thanks for getting back to me on that!

I also had a talk with our translation guy, Le Geoff, and he agreed this is a good idea, something that we should add. So it is already on his to-do list, should be coming soon.

Since this is marked resolved I am going to close this ticket, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please post a new topic on the forum and we can help you out.

    Cheers,
    Andras

PS: If you like our plugin, we would be happy to receive a review in the wordpress.org repository. Thanks!
