ParticipantFollowing this article (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/how-to-override-plugin-language-files/) I have been able to translate many parts.
But the word “Event” (Evento in spanish) in boxes and other places I do not find it in the xxxx.po
In the attached image I show several examples. Maybe that word is out of the xxxx.po, even so I would like to change it, even if I have to do it for each update.
Thank you!June 21, 2018 at 9:42 pm #1558901Geoff B.
MemberGood evening and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the struggles you are experiencing with the word “event”.
I would love to help you with this topic.Normally, the word event should come as part of the tribe-events-community_yourlanguage.po.
When translation file strings are not kicking in, it is usually caused by one of the following things:
- Your translation files are not up to date
- You are using some customized translation files that have been placed in the /wp-content/languages/ or /wp-content/languages/plugins/ folder. These might not be updated and will override any other file.
- The strings are translated, but are considered “fuzzy”
In the first 2 cases, the solution is to update your translation files using the pot file. You can do this by using the Poedit software and heading to Catalog > Update from pot file.
In the last case, you will need to make them “unfuzzy” using Poedit.
If that does not work, would you mind sending me a copy of your current translation overrides (via a link to a .zip file), so that I can take a look at it?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi, I’ve given it a lot of laps.
I have removed all the xxxxxx-es_ES.po from
… wp-content / plugins / the-events-calendar / lang
../wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/lang
../wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-community-events/langAnd I get everything in English, except Event, which translates to Event and I want you to put Event (or in Spanish Carrera). And there is no way, I can not find it.
In ../wp-content/languages/plugins there is nothing of The Events, I have deleted them all. To use the ones that the plugin brings by default.
So the word Event must be somewhere other than xxxx-es_ES.po and .mo. of The Event.
Somewhere in admin?

ParticipantHello again. Sorry to be the heavy customer 🙂
I think, I have already discovered where it comes from and why it is not translated Event.
It is the name of the CPT (see attached image)! Or so I think…
Can I change the name of CPT for another? That is: Event –to–> Race
If yes, could you indicate where? Thank you.

MemberGood afternoon,
Thank you for following up and for trying many things out.
As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
That said, there are a couple of things that are good to know when trying to personalize strings:
- There can po files located both in the plugins’ /lang/ folder (like the ones you removed) AND under the /wp-content/languages/plugins/ folder (usually overrides). I suspect “Evento” might be coming from there.
- “Evento” can come from a variety of places: the Community Events language file, the Pro language files, the Events Calendar language file. Of course, you already now that. But what you might not know is that sometimes it shows up as a variable (%s), sometimes it is part of a full string (e.g.: Submit an Event).
With that in mind I did a quick find and replace in the Spanish custom language files (replacing “Evento” with “Carrera” in a couple of places) and it works.
Feel free to drop those files in /wp-content/languages/plugins/ spanish
Best regards,
Geoff B.
