I recently purchased both The Events Calendar Pro, and iCal Importer. I have an iCal Importer schedule set up to import events from a public Google Calendar every 30 minutes. It finds events and imports them, but the timezone is incorrect on all of them. I have everything set to UTC-5 or New York in both Google Calendar and in my WordPress/The Events Calendar settings. All events are imported as 5 hours later than they should be (example, an 9am event imports as 2pm).

The recommended fix from a few months ago was to install v4.0.2. I have the latest versions of all plugins installed (The Events Calendar v4.0.5, The Events Calendar Pro v4.0.5, iCal Importer v4.0.2) and I’m still having the issue.

Hi. Sorry you’re having this issue.

Could you please change your WordPress timezone from UTC-5 to New York and see if that gets things working correctly (e.g. create test event in Gcal and import it in your site’s next 30 minute import)?

The issue is with WordPress’ timezone setting, not with any settings in Google Calendar so please don’t edit those just for the purpose of testing here.

Please let me know how things go for you.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, Cliff. WordPress was already set to New York. Just to test I switched it to UTC-5 and back but no luck.

However, I’m finding that if I create an event in Google Calendar and specify that it’s UTC-5 in Google, when I run the import plugin it properly brings over the correct time, and even shows it in month view as EST (whereas all the other incorrect dates are showing UTC-5).

Odd. We’ve had some users report switching from UTC-5 to New York fixes it and others say the opposite — that New York to UTC-5 fixes it.

Could you please send me the iCal file/link you’re importing into WordPress?

You may also want to test things after following our Testing for Conflicts Guide and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

Let us know what you find out.

    Thanks.

I checked with http://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/ and that iCal link validates, which is a good start.

Please update me here once you think you’re done testing things. Thanks.
