ParticipantHi there, having just upgraded to the latest versions of event tickets and event tickets plus, it’s now possible to buy tickets to past events.
While I’ve found the sale start and end date setting and can see a note that ticket sales will never end unless an end date is entered, it makes no sense not to default the ticket sale end date to the event end date.
Is there a way to set that default please?
Many thanks

KeymasterHi Che,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
Unfortunately the only way to change the Start Sale Date and End Sale Date is to manually enter them yourself and Save Ticket.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHi Jaime, given that the default situation is going to be that tickets should not be available to purchase for an event that has already passed, do you think it might be a good idea to populate the end date automatically when save is clicked?
We create hundreds of events every year so you’re asking for a substantial amount of extra data entry to solve a very basic problem. Additionally, we now have available tickets for any past event that didn’t sell out, so this is a big deal for us.

KeymasterHi Che,
It seems that this is related to a known issue that we are currently working on.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this glitch and we are actively working on a solution for this.
I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed, as it’s in the development team’s hands now.
They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.
The good news is that you will be contacted as soon as a fix is available.
Thank you for your patience as we see this through. Please let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime.
Thanks,
Jaime

MemberHi there,
Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release (for the Week of 7th January 2018) is out, including a fix for this issue :slightly_smiling_face:
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-7-january-2018/
Please update the plugins and let us know if the fix works for your site,
Best,
NicoJanuary 26, 2018 at 12:05 pm #1437430Che Burnett
ParticipantHi Nico, unfortunately this hasn’t worked for us; any events that haven’t had an end sale date manually entered are still offering tickets (if not sold out).

KeymasterHi Che,
I’m sorry to hear that this update did not resolve your issue. Can you please take a screenshot of the ticket for an event where you are seeing this issue, so that I can try to replicate things on my end?
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Jaime

KeymasterHi Che,
Thanks for providing me with that information. Unfortunately I am not able to replicate that issue on my test site. If I do not enter in a start date or end date, these fields are automatically populated for me.
In addition, I see that you have the capacity set to 0, although it appears to be Unlimited Capacity on the front end. Is this intended?
In any case, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:1. A conflict with another plugin
2. A conflict with your WordPress theme
3. A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
1. Make a backup of your database
2. Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime
