ParticipantI’ve seen the capabilities and think there’s merit with the plugin.
All I need is to take an iCal file from a previous website and import it into the calendar here. Simple right?
1. The actual calendar view won’t display. I’m stuck with a short code that displays my events as a list and none of the Month – Display options are working for me.
2. I read there’s this shortcode: [tribe_events view=”month”] that will display the calendar view but it’s only done with Pro.
3. I now find out that the import isn’t a feature in Pro it’s in an entirely different $90 plugin, the aggregator.
4. After putting [tribe_events view=”month”] into my page the calendar looks like the attached screenshot.
Do I really need the pro version to have my page view my events as a calendar? Should I get a refund and buy the Aggregator plug in to import my events? Also it seems you need Pro to do reoccuring events? It seems like I need both of these.
I do not want to be linked to support articles. I would if at all possible for someone to give me a walk-through here or a direct line

ParticipantHi Dylan,
There are a couple of different things going here, so let’s first tackle this issue of importing iCal files.
Please note that, yes, importing from iCal files and feeds is complicated and is only a premium feature found in Event Aggregator. Event Aggregator is required to import from iCal, Facebook, Meetup.com, and other services. We also make another premium importer plugin called Eventbrite Tickets which imports events from Eventbrite. This is a premium offering because, like the other things, importing from Eventbrite is complicated.
However, there are many totally free import/export methods! You can:
• Import from CSV files out-of-the-box with The Events Calendar.
• Import and Export with WordPress’ built-in tools as described here.
• Import and export the database content directly using a whole slew of methods. It’s true that more advanced or automated methods than the above three free, manual methods requires a premium add-on. But I hope this information helps clarify the whole picture of things in terms of imports and exports.

ParticipantOkay, so now let’s talk about the Month View and shortcodes and such.
Simply put:
• The Events Calendar is totally free and provides a Month View, List View, and Day View calendar right out of the box. • These views exist at your main calendar URL, which by default is /events/. So if your site is example.com, then The Events Calendar by default will provide the full Month View, List View, and Day View at example.com/events
• If this is not working for you, then your site is broken and this needs to be investigated and fixed. It is not a problem with our plugins, but with your site—and we are happy to help try and fix it! 😀
Events Calendar Pro is an add-on to The Events Calendar. In addition to the three free views mentioned above, it offers Photo View, Week View, and Map View. It also does provide shortcodes like [tribe_events] which lets you embed whole calendar views anywhere you want. It also provides the “recurring events” features. It also provides several Pro-only widgets. It provides some additional Pro-only shortcodes, and also provides access to these very “premium forums” 🙂
This is a totally different product and set of features than Event Aggregator, which provides a set of features related to importing events. I hope that I have helped to clarify why these products are separate, and the value they provide separately from each other and are sold as separate items.
So let’s get down to work here: If your site’s calendar views don’t work, things are broken and we need to fix it. To get started with that process, please use the “Sharing information manually” steps in this article to share your site’s complete, un-edited system information with us so I can take a look and try to recreate your problems: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Thanks!
