Hello, we are using the Free Calendar in conjunction with paid version of The Events Calendar: iCal Importer.

We did a test post and the information carried through on all calendars. I turned program over to client, they logged in and made a post. Nothing is going across. I can see our test post on all sites.

We turned off all security plugins, this has not resolved issue.

The calendar plug-in is missing featured images and linked sites is missing the availability to search futuremonths

    Main Calendar – http://rockytopwineries.com/

You will see that there is no way to look at future months as you have on main calendar

    iCal Importer – 4 http://mountainvalleywinery.com/events/

Good evening Rich and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the iCal not working as expected on your client’s websites.
I would love to help you with this topic.

To keep things simple, I believe we will have to try to tackle each of the issues separately.

I turned program over to client, they logged in and made a post.

If I understand correctly, what you are doing is that you are:

    1. Creating a main calendar on http://rockytopwineries.com/
    2. Using that Calendar’s ics link (export month’s events) to input in the iCal importer installed on each of the other sites

Can you confirm if that’s the case. If not, could you provide me with a step-by-step breakdown of how what your process is ?

    Nothing is going across.

This is linked to the previous question. It might sound like an over-zealous question, but are you positive that your client has followed the same exact procedure as yours ?

Coud it be possible to have a screenshot of the setting of your iCal import on one of the “child sites” (supposed to be receiving the info from the parent sites)

The calendar plug-in is missing featured images

Technically, the iCal protocol does not offer a field to carry a featured image.
That means, that the missing featured image is “normal”

For now, the best way to export complete calendar info (including featured images).
You can read about it here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/csv-files-options-and-examples/

and linked sites is missing the availability to search futuremonths

The answer to that will depend in large part to the previous answers. So hang in there.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Nothing is going across.

Step 1 – created test event inserted image and inserted random text,
Step 2 – chose random date of 8/12/16
Step 3 – publish event… This event carried through all child sites,

Step 4 – Next Event – Stomp Out Breast Cancer

Step 5 – Client input data it appears the only difference is that she set locations and organizer
Her events did not carry across to child sites
We went back to I Cal Importers and went through same steps as we did on first event -her event still not published on child sites.

Step 6 – I tried another test event on the same day as her event with no location and no organizer… Event did not appear on child sites either.

This is linked to the previous question. It might sound like an over-zealous question, but are you positive that your client has followed the same exact procedure as yours ?

I believe that they have, I can see no difference in inputting data and submitting to calendar

Coud it be possible to have a screenshot of the setting of your iCal import on one of the “child sites” (supposed to be receiving the info from the parent sites)

I am attaching several screen caps for your review, a couple from events pages on Rocky Top Wine trail, so that you can view each event to see if we are missing a setting on inputting info the others are from Ical Importer on Child site

Thank you for your help, looking forward to a successful outcome.

    Good evening Rich,

Thank you for answering all my questions and for writing back.

Before we begin, there is an error message on your install (from your screenshots) that I highly recommend fixing.
It looks like you have created an actual WordPress page called “Events”. Nothing wrong there in theory.

However, our calendar is not a “real” page. Furthermore, it requires exclusivity on its URL.

In other words, if you have set your calendar to appear on http://rockytopwineries.com/events of your site (under Events -> Settings -> General), you can’t have a page that shares that same slug.

So the solution is to either delete or change the slug of your WordPress page called “Events”. I believe this might be interfering with iCal URL.

Furthermore, a lot of your calendar’s functionality is breaking because 403 error messages (you can see them with the Google Developer tools). Basically, you will need to fix this as well, because most of the Javascript and jQuery is blocked (probably by your security plugin) at this time.

I right clicked on the +Export months events button at bottom right of calendar

That’s great. However, for the feed to work beyond that single month, you will need to remove the month variable from the URL. If you don’t, only the events from that specific month will be fed in your iCal importer.

Just to be clear, the correct iCal link you should use should be http://rockytopwineries.com/events/?ical=1

That being said, I just tested that link myself and the only event that shows up is yours.
So there is something else going on too.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Hang in there as we investigate this.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
