GuestUpdated the_events_calendar 3.9 to 4.0 and the entire site went down. Removed the plugin and restored to 3.9 and updated Events Cal Pro and now no events can be added. But joy, the site is still up. What’s up with all that?

ParticipantHowdy Webmaster,
I am sorry to hear your site crashed! That is no good. That has happened to some folks during the update. đ Typically this was caused by trying to run mismatched versions of the plugins, say version 3.12 of Community Events but version 4.0 of The Events Calendar. As always it is best to run matching versions of the plugins, but this is especially important with 4.0 because it is a sizeable upgrade. Of course, we still do not walks folks sites crashing when running mismatched versions, and that was our bad for not catching the conflicts before releasing 4.0.
Are you still running mismatched versions? It sounds like you updated Pro the second time, but are still running an old version of The Events Calendar. This is bound to cause issues. The best way to update is to do them all at once. Go to the plugins screen, select The Events Calendar and all of its addons, and hit update. That said if your theme or a plugin is not yet compatible with The Events Calendar 4.x then you might experience further issues when updating. If that’s the case I recommend staying on 3.12 while you wait for the authors of those to release updates. We plan to support 3.12 for a while longer, that way everyone has time to update their plugins and themes for 4.x compatibility.
Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

GuestHi – Our paid Events Calendar plug-ins caused our WP website to crash. I had the website restored by our hosting service but it went down a second time after reactivating the Events Calendar plugs-ins. Need assistance ASAP! We now have no calendar and can’t access the information stored on it–a big bummer.

ParticipantHowdy Stacy,
We would be happy to help. Do you mind opening a new topic in our support area after logging in with the account you used to purchase those plugins? We need to be able to verify support access. Further, opening a new topic will help you provide some helpful information like your System Information and current diagnostic steps you have taken.
Thanks!
