ParticipantSo I have customized our install little by little using snippets here and there, but am still unsure how the templating works. I removed using CSS the parts of the search we don’t need (see screenshot) and I use TEC Cat Colors, but don’t need the search parts of that. Can you point me to what I need to modify or how to start to add a ‘jpg’ of a legend for the cat colors? This would be static, always present next to the month drop downs.

ModeratorHey Joseph,
These types of customizations typically extend beyond what we’re able to support, but I’ll be happy to give as much assistance as possible. Your best bet would be to contact the plugin authors for The Events Calendar: Category Colors to see if they have any insight on the matter seeing your question pertains more to their plugin rather than ours. I wish I was able to do more here and thanks for choosing us for your events calendar needs. Cheers!

ParticipantI think you misunderstood what I’m trying to accomplish. I just want to inset a image next to the month dropdown, not anything to do with the plugin. What I don’t understand is how or where that is generated (the dropdown) and where I could add an object into it. The customization tutorials you provide don’t seem to cover that.
Thanks

ModeratorHey Joseph,
The issue here is that the category colors plugin isn’t developed/supported by Modern Tribe, so this is a request you’ll need to take up with them. If possible, provide a screenshot of exactly what you’re referring to and I’ll do my best to assist. Our Themer’s Guide does a great job in helping identifying and modifying templates to your liking. I really wish I could be of more assistance here but we are limited on the amount of support we can provide for customizations, which is ultimately what you’re seeking.
I hope this provides clarity on the matter and please feel free to respond with any more feedback you have. Thanks for understanding and have a pleasant rest of your evening. Cheers 🙂

ParticipantI think you didn’t even read my response above. This question has nothing do really with a plugin, I am trying to find out where to start adding something to TEC Pro, not a plugin. See the screenshot included. I just want to add an image next to the month dropdown (a TEC feature…not a plugin) that has a color legend.

Thank you for any guidance…I’m not looking for you to give me a solution, but of least tell me which template/where to modify to of least get ballpark.

ModeratorHey Joseph,
My apologies if I came of as dismissing your issue – it wasn’t my intention whatsoever. If you haven’t already familiarized yourself with our New User Primer, it gives a great breakdown on how to identify and customize templates.
I believe the file you’ll need to overwrite is /the-events-calendar/src/views/modules/bar.php. Let me know if this helps and again, sorry if it appeared I didn’t read your last response. Often times it takes one or two more responses to get it right. Thanks for understanding and have a great day. Cheers!
