ParticipantHi, when the plugin is activated, the site-title in the open tab in the browser is changed to “Events” on all pages, instead of the normal site title. How can I avoid this?

MemberHi Alexander and welcome to the forums!
Good question. You can change the page title in the browser tab using the following examples as snippets that can be added to your theme’s functions.php file:
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantHi Goeff,
I am not sure I understood your answer. If I run on The Event Calendar PRO, the tag title is the same no matter, which site is shown. It always shows “Upcomming Events”. When I deactivate the plugin, the normal site name shows up, as it is normally expected. I don’t want to change the tab title for every event, I only want the normal site name being displayed.
I read the code from http://pastebin.com/QU2aMwBJ in such a way, that I can assign individual names to every event page.
Thanks for comments
Regards

MemberHi Alexander,
Thanks for following up!
Oh, so if I’m understanding correctly, it’s that all pages on your site displays “Upcoming Events” as the title instead of you wanting to change that only on event-specific pages. Is that correct?
If so, would you be willing to try something for me and switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Seventeen)? I want to see whether the same thing happens when you’re using a standard theme because that will confirm that the issue is isolated to the theme rather the plugin itself.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
I tried with Twenty Seventeen and it worked without this observation as I find in my default theme. So I will contact the theme supplier Yootheme for further clarification.
However there are other observations, which disturbs me:1. TEC is obviously using two different folders, namely “events” and “veranstaltungen (german)”. So if I click “Veranstaltungen” in my menue, the correct page will be displayed. If I click one event, which is in my sidebar, a different page is displayed. How can I direct the “sidebar-click” to my main page “Veranstaltungen”
2. I have one monthly recurring event. If see for instance one event and I click the option “see all”, I am getting a 404 message.
I hope, I could make myself understood? Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks & regards

MemberHi Alexander,
Thanks for following up! And thanks for testing the default theme as well — definitely let us know if the theme developer has any questions we can answer and we would be happy to do as as best we can.
1. TEC is obviously using two different folders, namely “events” and “veranstaltungen (german)”.
Can you clarify this for me? The Events Calendar uses a single folder.
I do see that your main menu has a link called “Veranstaltungen” and it goes targets the /events slug. The sidebar has the Event List widget and I see it has a link called “Mehr anzeigen …” that targets the /veranstaltungen slug.
Your main menu needs to be changed to point to /veranstaltungen instead because I see in your settings that is what you have calendar set to as your main calendar. Otherwise, you can change your settings to point to /events instead and that will make both links point to the same place.
2. I have one monthly recurring event. If see for instance one event and I click the option “see all”, I am getting a 404 message.
You may need to open a new thread for this one, but will you please try following the steps outlined in this post to see if it helps resolve the 404 issue?
Thanks so much!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
here is mystatus:
– my theme provider has not jet answered – I will report to you asap– problem with “folder” ist solved > both links “events” and “Veranstaltungen” now point to the same place
– 404 message: I have done as is described in https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-http-404-errors/ and have inserted the code to function.php > both codes resulted in my site is not even starting at all > so I will open a new thread with this point
– INFO: I have deactivated all plugins except TEC to see if there is any effect > no change to the tab-title – problem. However, when I do not use the little calendar widget anymore, all tab-titles are displayed in a correct manner – so may be there are some jet unknown conflicts with my theme. So I have decided to leave this widget out and move the event information to another position.
Best regards

MemberThanks for the update, Alexander 🙂
If you could open a new forum topic or thread for the 404 issue that would be great—but I’ll also keep this topic open in case you have further questions for us as a result of talking to your theme author.
