Hi, I want to customize single-event.php, but the file in /view/ is not the same file. It changes the layout completely and I would have to start from scratch. Where is the actual single-event.php located?

    I have Events Tickets Plus.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey Sebastian,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

The default single-event that get’s displayed should be the views > single-event.php file from within the plugin. However, you’re current theme could already have a customized version of this file to create the display that you’re currently see as the single-event template.

Does your theme (or parent theme) already have a “tribe-events” folder? If so, you can use the already customized template there as a starting point for your customization.

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks!

The child theme does have a folder, it’s the folder I created to customize a few aspects of the display. I followed your theming guide and copied over the file one by one so that I could customize only what I needed. Single-event.php is a file that does not exist in the child directory. Copying it there breaks everything.

Also it’s confusing, your tutorials talk about being able to select a base theme or template, could that be it?

I essentially just need the correct code for the current single event display.

    Thanks

    Hey Sebastian,

Thanks for your follow-up. You mentioned this and I would like to address your question:

Also it’s confusing, your tutorials talk about being able to select a base theme or template, could that be it?

To change the template, head to Events β†’ Settings β†’ Display in your wp-admin, and there you’ll find an option called “Events template”. You can try out all of the available templates if you think it’d be useful here.

In regards to singl-event.php, there are two separate single-event.php files. Make sure you open the src/views folder in your copy of The Events Calendar (and also in Events Calendar Pro) and explore ALL of the files in ALL of the folders in this main src/views folder. You might be using a different single-event.php template than the one you want.

Tinker around with things, and be sure to keep good backups of your customizations along the way so that you can undo mistakes anywhere along the way.

Best of luck with your customizing!

    Thanks George

But I do not have that option in Events -> Settings -> Display. It is simply missing.

Also, “av-single-event-content” or “av-single-event-meta-bar-inner” does not exist ANYWHERE in the event calendar source code that I just downloaded. I searched 850 files and did not find a single hit. I need the source template that generated:

Please help me out here. Where does this mystery template come from?

The problem is further exaggerated, as I purchases the events tickets plus and cannot move the sign up form.

It looks absolutely horrible in the bar, and If I use a different template then I need to start from the beginning again.

    Hey Sebastian,

    1. Can you post your site’s System Information? Here’s how to do that β†’ https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    2. Class names like “av-single-event-content” are NOT generated by our plugin. This, in fact, is I think the core of the problems here. Now that you’ve elaborated a bit, it seems that your theme itself is actually offering up a whole bunch of heavily-customized templates. That’s where the “av-single-event-content” class would come from and such. We unfortunately cannot help with theme templates because we do not make that code, so for assistance with anything relating to elements like “av-single-event-content”, definitely reach out to your theme developer support team for further assistance.

    Cheers!
