    Dear support team,

I’m using the [tribe_mini_calendar] tag to show a mini calendar on our website. The website promotes a number of events starting in about half a year. The calendar however launches at the current month, which implies that all our guests have to click through the upcoming months until they reach the first month in which our range of events starts. Since we have (and need) a long pre-sale time horizon, it is important to us that we offer a decently nice booking experience. Having to click through a number of months to find the events is killing for the conversion however.

Is there a way to force the mini calendar to load in a certain month?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Best,
    Luc

    Hi Luc,

We have this guide to fast forward the mini calendar to the first month with events:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fast-forward-list-widget-to-next-upcoming-event/

The other option is to use the Event List Widget so it displays the next 5 to 10 events no matter how far in the future.

Let me know if that works.

    Cheers

    Dear Brian,

    Unfortunately, no good news:
    – adding it to the child theme’s functions.php doesn’t produce any different result than before;
    – adding it to the theme’s functions.php renders a 500 server error.

Do you know what’s the problem based on this information?

    Best,
    Luc

    Hi,

I loaded into my test site and it worked for me.

It could be you included two opening <?php tags…

Or it could be bad formatting.

I do not have a way to really troubleshoot that, but I can try to help out.

    Dear Brian,

I checked but there’s only 1 php tag. I redid the copying but still the same.
    It’s in http://www.railpromo.it/wp-content/themes/onetone/functions.php

Would you be so kind to take a look?

    Best,
    Luc

    Hi,

I am not able to read the php coding that way.

You can post the contents of the file in http://pastebin.com/

And then share the link and I could see what is there that way.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I copied the coding from the pastebin and it worked for me.

So I am not sure what the issue is on your site. Putting it in the Child Theme is the correct location too.

I do not have any other steps to take from my end unfortunately and we are unable to access to add coding to a customer site per our terms and conditions.

You could try adding the coding and going through the testing for conflicts guide and see if that finds an issue that is causing this to not work:

Testing Conflicts With Themes and Other Plugins

If you have caching I would make sure that is reset to make sure the changes are showing.

    Thanks

    Dear Brian,

Unfortunately no such luck. Most of the check I already did before posting here.
You sure pasting the snippet is the only thing to do? No change to the shortcode etc?
Because it really doesn’t work here. It’s not a cache issue.

    Luc

Oh my bad I thought you were using the widget.

It actually only works with the Widget and not the shortcode.

    Sorry about that.

    Dear Brian,

How to solve this for the [tribe_mini_calendar] code implementation, then?

    Thanks,
    Luc

    Hi,

We do not have a feature to do that with the shortcode. It could be done with a customization, but that is beyond the support we can provide.

It does look that the shortcode does not call the widget_display_callback filter as that is for WordPress widget’s only.

I do not have any other information or help on this unfortunately we only provide the enhancement for the widget.
