Sorting Events by Distance

Hi,

Could you confirm if the Filter Bar Add-on can be set up so that a location search will always return a list of events in distance order – with nearest at the top and furthest away at the bottom?

Hi Ben,

Yes, if you have Filter Bar + Events Calendar PRO, you can allow users to show the events list according to radius from their location. You can read more details on that in our Knowledgebase Article here. 🙂

Thanks for your response. It’s very much appreciated.

Can you confirm whether the ‘distance’ filter causes the results to be sorted in order of distance (when in ‘list’ view), and if this can be set up in the back-end as the default setting for users of the form?

Also, I noticed that the ‘distance’ filter isn’t currently present on the demo site. Would it be possible to turn that on, or point me in the direction of another website where I can see the distance filter working?

Hi Ben,

So, the distance filter is contingent upon the location search criteria entered, and will show events in date order based on the radius specified (ie events within 5 miles of zip code 12345 will be shown in date order). This is how it will work in all views.

The distance filter is enabled on the demo, you just have to put in location parameters  before it will appear as an option.
