ParticipantI just purchased the plugin, put the key in and get this error. I have looked at other answers and have put the line in the config but still the same thing.
I have also added tickets to a Download (using EDD), and on the Download update, the ticket I set up disappear and I have to set up again. Am I missing something?

So sorry for the error message! That often pops up if our site is experiencing downtime for any reason. Everything seems to be up and running now, so will you please give it another go and let me know if it continues?

Thanks for following up!
Can you please confirm you are following all these steps:
- Visit License Tab
- Enter License Key
- You get a Green License Valid Message
- After you get the message you are then clicking “Save Changes”
- Then you get a “License key(s) updated.” message near the top of the page.
Also you can can always download the latest version from your account here on theeventscalendar.com and use this guide for manual updates:
Let me know if it is not working after following those steps and we can do some troubleshooting steps next.

ParticipantYes, followed that exact process a few times. Does not go green, always red. Then did it with Network tools turned on, the admin_ajax is returning with the following:
{“status”:0,”message”:”Sorry, key validation server is not available.”}
Happy to set a user up and for someone to login and have a look it that speeds up the troubleshooting? Let me know and I will send it in a private reply.

Shoot, I am not seeing anything that it totally out of the ordinary. I see that Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus are the only two Modern Tribe plugins that are installed and that they are up to date. I tried to replicate the same environment on my test site and was able to validate the license key there.
I’ve been looking into this and talking it over with others on the team and it appears the most common cause of something like this is that the server the site is hosted on is blocked from being able to communicate with our plugin’s update/validation server. In that event, will you please open a ticket with your host to look into whether they see anything that would prevent the validation request from hitting our server?
Sorry I don’t have a concrete solution here yet, but I’m hoping this next step of contacting the host will shed some more light on what’s happening. In the meantime, do know that the plugins will continue to function without the license key–the key simply activates automatic updates and you can always grab the latest updates by logging in here on this site.
