    Hi There,

We were preparing to go live with Events calendar Pro today, but we were running into extremely slow performance issues. We then discovered that we had over 14,000 events which was completely insane for our size and most likely causing the performance issues.

I don’t entirely understand what is happening, but it looks like we are getting a lot of duplicates for events. Sometimes up to 10 duplicate events for a single day. When I open an event it says “Recurring event data is still being generated for this event”, and it just keeps looping through creating them and then deleting them. It’s made a total mess of our calendar. I reduced the time frame for recurring events from 24/24 months to 1/3 months and that doesn’t seem to help. One interesting thing that I have noticed is that the duplicate events have missing category data and the date is displayed differently. Some of the events will say January 29th, and some will say January 29th, 2016.

Any help would be appreciated. In the meantime I’m going to spin up a staging environment and see what I can do by disabling plugins and themes.

    Host: WPEnging
    WP Version: 4.4.1
    Theme: Genesis
    Event Tickets 4.0.4
    Event Tickets Plus 4.0.4
    The Events Calendar 4.0.5
    The Events Calendar PRO 4.0.5
The Events Calendar: Filter Bar 4.0.2
The Events Calendar – Cleanup Recurrence Duplicates 3.5

    Thanks,

Hi John. Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I’ll do my best to help.

It’d be great if this was your same issue: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/more-than-11000-events-generated-so-far/#dl_post-1063486

If that doesn’t help solve it, please provide screenshots of your wp-admin Event editor screen for an event that is having duplicates created. Please also provide links if possible (if not live, please still paste the links here so we can see the structure of them).

Finally, would you mind grabbing your system information and pasting it here? Make sure to use the “Set as private reply” checkbox to protect your private information from the public.

You can find the system info by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings > Help tab > System Information section — or by going to [yoursite]/wp-admin/edit.php?page=tribe-common&tab=help&post_type=tribe_events#tribe-system-info

That will give me a lot of extra information to help diagnose the problem.

    Thanks!

After extensive testing I think I may have figured this out. The original developer of our site installed a custom plugin bundle that included the following individual plugins:

    THESE DON’T WORK
    – WPBakery Visual Composer – 4.3.5
    – Templatera – 1.05
    – Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer – 3.7.0

If I deactivate the original bundle it breaks out the individual plugins so I can disable them individually. If I disable the “Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer – 3.7.0” everything works as expected. As soon as I enable that plugin it breaks. I have purchased new versions of all these plugins and it seems to work.

    THESE DO WORK
    WPBakery Visual Composer – 4.9.2
    Templatera – 1.1.9
Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer – 3.15.0

    Hope this helps someone else.
