    Hi there.

http://www.perthcity.co.uk is frequently incredibly slow or even fails to load. The host has contacted us to say that the wp_postmeta table is growing at a ridiculous rate. There is also evidence of Calendar Pro creating lengthy delays on waterfall test of the site. Also, the team that is inputing events says it is taking a considerable amount of time to create or modify any events. As of right now it looks like this issue is causing the site to fail permanently, so this is a matter of urgency.

Hi. Sorry this is happening for you.

It’s hard to tell if this is your issue or not, but please do strongly consider trying out this temporary plugin fix for runaway recurring events (a bug introduced in version 4.2.2 and fixed within a few days via version 4.2.2.1). If you do try the fix, please do follow the instructions carefully and allow time (maybe 1-2 days) for it to work its fix into all your events.

Please let me know how it goes for you or if you didn’t try it.

I tried the patch and it didn’t do anything – and the runaway recurring events has made the site unusable – with permanent database errors for the front and back-end/

I have now gone in via FTP to get rid of all three Modern Tribe plug-ins we were using – Calendar, Pro and Community, and the site is working again.

I want now to get rid of all events created – but can’t see in the database easily where they are stored. Our hosting company is now complaining that we are exceeding our database limits.

Where will I find these event entries and is there an easy way of getting rid of them?

    Thanks.

Hi, our hosting company has run this script for us – it did nothing.

As your plug-in and paid for add-ons has completely screwed our site, how do I go about getting a refund? Very unhappy that your product brought my clients site down for extended periods of time – and that this was a known issue with no obvious warnings to customers. It’s not even on your Known Issues list.

…and… this just in from our Hosting Company:

    Hi Colin,

    Thanks for your patience.

I am sorry, however that script did not help and we are unable to assist you in this matter further.

You would have to contact your developer and have with him checked this and see what the core issue is and how it can be corrected.

I hope you will manage to clear the database.

    What now?!

It’s frustrating, disappointing, and a time-waste when things mess up this badly. Of course, we are sorry about this.

Our refund policy and request form is at https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/refund-policy/

Please let me know if there’s anything more you’d like me to help with on this support ticket.

Yes please. We have tried the Patch, and asked our host to run the script on the database. Neither worked and the table in mention is still growing. This is causing major issues for us – is there another solution?

Although the Event Rocket plugin is third-party and not guaranteed (and says it is no longer supported), deleting all your data should work if you follow these steps:

    1. deactivate all Modern Tribe plugins
    2. install and activate Event Rocket
    3. go to wp-admin > Tools > Event Data Cleanup
    4. run the cleanup

Please let me know how it goes for you.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
