Show past events by category

Hello

I use the events list widget to show upcoming events based on particular categories – for example http://www.ieee-ukandireland.org/chapters/power-and-energy/

I would like to be able to use the same widget for past events (again by category).

Alternatively I already use http://www.ieee-ukandireland.org/events/list/?tribe_event_display=past to list past events but to be able to further filter by another category.

Can you suggest a solution?

Hi, Nick. Thanks for your detailed question.

Our Filter Bar add-on makes this easier. For example, if you first go to your Past Events, like you already did, then use Filter Bar to select a category, you would end up at a URL like this from our demo site: http://wpshindig.com/events/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=past&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=24

Without Filter Bar, that URL should still work on your site, but you’d probably have to hard-code that link into your menu or Single Event View somewhere/somehow.

As far as your widget filtering request, you might be requesting the same/similar thing as one of our existing feature requests: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/13101369-past-events-widget

Please do add your vote there or create your own request if you don’t find a better one to match what you’re wanting.

This allows us to gauge interest in this particular feature request, which helps us prioritize our development efforts.

Yes the item on the feature request is exactly what I’m looking for. I have commented and voted accordingly.

I tried the link before posting the query:

http://wpshindig.com/events/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=past&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=24

but couldn’t get it to filter – it provided past events but no further filtering by category. I wasn’t sure where to find the category id number eg 24 in your link. Could you clarify please?
