I have set up recurring events and I’m selling tickets for the series of events. Now some of the start dates of these events have passed (last week) and they no longer show up in the events page. I can however, when I navigate to the event from the Dashboard, still buy tickets. I had set up ticket sales to continue until april 2018 in the Woocommerce tickets section of the event, so I assumed the event would still show up even after the start date had passed. We’re using the photo view only and the filter bar. How are people supposed to buy tickets when the event no longer shows? I do still only want to show the first event of the recurring series, but not have them disappear after the start date. Is this possible?

If this is not an option, should I have a regular event instead of a recurring one in the future? The recurring option is not really necessary for us. There are multiple instances of the same event (a painting course) in real life, but we only ever sell one ticket for the whole series and only show the start date so it could theoretically be just one event. If we do that, and set the end date for the ticket sales to be well after the start date, would they still show up in the photo view after the start date has passed?

Good afternoon Wim and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I have set up recurring events and I’m selling tickets for the series of events.

As a side note, I am not sure if you knew this, but we do not yet fully support integration between Event Tickets Plus and recurring events.

It will still work for some specific cases, but there will definitely be some limitations until full compatibility is achieved.

I assumed the event would still show up even after the start date had passed.

It absolutely should display, but what is going on is that your other setting (display first event of the series only) is interfering.

What you would need is a customization that either:

    1. Displays the first recurring event even after it has ended in the photo view
    2. Displays only the next upcoming recurring event in the photo view

You can read about that here: https://theeventscalendar.com/customizations/

If coding is not really your cup of tea, you could always hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.

should I have a regular event instead of a recurring one in the future?

    That is totally another option.

I do not know if that would work for you, but you could also have one big event that lasts for the whole length of the course.

For example an event that has a start date of today and an end date of April 2018.

This way the event would display until the end date is met.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!
