Kenny
ParticipantHello,
Recently we wanted to change our search function on the top of the Events Calendar to search for events through the year and not just a specific month. We want to keep the Month view on the events page itself but when someone searches for an event, it would list out the events found for the specific year and not just a given month in the year.
This is how it currently looks here. We want it to just say like 2016 to search through the whole year. How might we go about achieving this?
Thank you!

MemberGood evening Kenny and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to try to help you with this topic.Just to set expectations, as you might know, the scope of our support is mostly to get our wonderful customers started on the right track to customize their site and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.
With that in mind, here’s some suggested ideas to help you get started:
- Our Themer’s guide provides a general idea of how customization works
- The following two posts will give you an idea of the type of customization involved: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/change-datepicker-format/#post-71516 and https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/change-datepicker-in-map-view-to-display-months-rather-than-days/
- Try doing a search through our plugin files with the string “tribe-bar-date” with special consideration to tribe-bar.js
- You could hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantGeoff, I’m surprised this is not a feature. Below is an example of why it should be a feature.
A visitor to my site has heard about an event. He wants to learn more about it but does not know the date of the event. He navigates to my calendar and keys in a search term. The default view is monthly. Because the event he’s looking for occurs later in the year, search results don’t turn up the event he’s looking for. He thinks I’ve posted nothing on the calendar and abandons the site (diminishing my site’s stickiness). If he doesn’t immediately abandon his search, he might spend a few minutes of trial and error and eventually discover that he can switch to list view and find the event in search results–a scenario that seems unlikely.
Is it possible to include this feature in an upcoming update? Two possible ways I can think of doing this: (1) let the visitor select the search range; or, if this is too complicated, (2) let the admin select a default search range in the settings.

MemberGood evening Daniel,
Thank you for your input on this very topic. You do make a strong case for that feature.
I can totally see how this would be super useful.
In fact, you can suggest it or cast your vote on other features in our User Voice forum. As you might guess, we get a ton of feature requests. This is why we need to prioritize news features based on popularity.
In the meantime, as I originally told Kenny, the good news is that we have worked hard at making our plugins customizable. We are aware that this is not perfect, but at least it enables people to tweak things to their liking.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
