ParticipantHi Support,
Please go to:
*removed by admin.Once you login to our members area please select the main menu item, Meetings & Events.
See screen shot attached of the filter option “Event Category”, here the user can select between 2 types of Event Categories ‘Exclusive Events’ and ‘Meetings’, but for some reason the filter does not work and won’t filter any ‘Meetings’.
We have tried everything to fix this search filter issue. Could you please help us?May 1, 2016 at 6:12 pm #1109365John

MemberHowdy John,
Welcome to our support forums and thanks for reaching out to us. I’ll help you here.
First of all, I see credentials have been removed but be sure to change the password for that user just in case. Also, please note that we are not able to login into client site back-ends to make changes or check for issues.
Regarding the issue, I don’t see any screenshots attached to your post so I’m still not sure about it. Can you please elaborate a bit more or followup with the screenshots where I can see this? I guess it’s the Event Category filter in FilterBar what’s not working, right?
Can you please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can see if this is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins.
Please let me know about it,
Best,
NicoMay 2, 2016 at 5:17 pm #1109818John

MemberJohn,
Thanks for following up! Maybe I wasn’t clear enough in my previous reply. I’ll try to clarify a bit:
– Melbourne search results: 3 events which have ‘Melbourne’ in the title of the event.
– Melbourne search + Event Category ‘Exclusive Events’: the same 3 events which are categorized as ‘Exclusive events’.
– Melbourne search + Event Category ‘Meetings’: no events as none is categorized with the ‘Meetings’ term.Events from the last two examples need to have the search term (in the title, content or excerpt) AND be categorized with the term. If events don’t comply with both parameters then they won’t show up. Does this makes sense?
The events from the meetings category won’t show up when you search for Sydney or Melbourne as this term is not present in the title, excerpt or content. Again, this is how default WordPress search query parameters work.
I suggested adding the search term to title, content or excerpt to confirm the above.
Please let me know about it,
Best,

MemberThanks for following up John!
Can you explain define/ elaborate on what is “content and expert”?
Sure! Sorry if I was too vague before…
WordPress searches for content in the fields: Title, Content and excerpt. This are the fields in the event editor: https://cloudup.com/cHmhk7kMzXk – As we use WordPress default search functions to search for events as well, the searched keywords need to be in one of those fields for the event to be found.
If adding the keywords to any of those fields still doesn’t work please let me know about it,
Best,

MemberThanks for the reply John!
I’ll be out tomorrow and wont be able to give you a reply until Monday. Given the original issue is resolved and that my reply will be delayed, it will be better if you can open up a new thread for the location search issue. To give you a quick answer, for it to work the venues of the events have to have valid geolocation data (which automatically generated or provided by the lat and long input from the user), based on that data the search will try to sear events near that location.
Best,
NicoPS: if you open up a new thread please let me know so I can close this one out.
