ParticipantI have tried multiple times to search and I put in a keyword, hit enter and nothing. If I put in a keyword, change it to list view it searches. Is this normal?

KeymasterHi Suzanne,
Thanks for reaching out again here!
It seems that your Find Events button is missing, which is why nothing seems to happen when you input a keyword. Changing the view reloads the page, so it inputs the keyword that way.
Have you hidden the location search? If so, perhaps you also hid the Find Events button by mistake.
If not, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:1. A conflict with another plugin
2. A conflict with your WordPress theme
3. A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
1. Make a backup of your database
2. Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantFirst please do a screen shot of where I would turn off the “find events button” My web designer would strongly advise me against reverting back to older WP versions.

KeymasterHi Suzanne,
I’m not quite sure where you would turn off the “Find Events” button. It just seems to be missing from your calendar page, which is why you may be seeing this issue. Without that button, there is nothing to trigger the page reload which will load the keyword search results. Does that make sense?
I see that you have removed the Location search from that bar. Here is what it all looks like by default:

If you would not like to revert to a default theme, you can try a third-party plugin, like Health Check to test for conflicts in the same way.
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime
