I purchased Event Calendar Pro and most of your plugins but have found it totally impossible to keep up to date because of the accumulated cost of the whole software package. In real terms i have read a previous response of yours where you commented that it is now necessary to keep up to date or to have all the plugins. Ok my problem is that as previously mentioned i have the “whole package” but my Schedule Multiple Events doesn’t work. Now i understand that this is because of differing versions of the various plugins. However, at the end of the day this shouldn’t be my problem, it is yours. I bought the product and it should be downward compatible. I shouldn’t be forced into continually buying very expensive upgrades.

    Please advise.

    Hello Leslie,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

I’m sorry to hear about your disappointment.

it is now necessary […] to have all the plugins.

It is definitely not necessary to have all our plugins, unless you need the functionality of all of them. Otherwise you only need the plugin whose functionality you want on your website.

it is now necessary to keep up to date

This decision is in your hands. You do not have to keep the plugins up to date, you can stick with an old version. In this case it is needed that you stay on the old version for all the plugins.

This can have the consequence that you might be stuck with some bugs. If you would like to get rid of those bugs, you will need to update the plugin.

    it should be downward compatible

As much as we would like our plugins be downward compatible, it is impossible to achieve that.

Our plugins are very complex with a lot of inter-dependencies, inter-dependent functionality. There are cases for example where fixing a bug in The Events Calendar will also have an effect on Events Calendar PRO and Event Tickets because they have functionality that is dependent on TEC. Thus, all of them need to be updated, whether we want it or not.

With that being said, if you have the recent versions of our plugins and you are experiencing an issue, I would be happy to help you out.

I see that you were / are using many of our plugins. We do offer product bundles with discounts as well.

If none of the bundles fit your needs, then tell me what you need and I’ll check what I can do for you.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Dear Andras,

My problem is the scheduling multiple events. When I use that function then the events do not show. Which plugin controls this function and what I you best price on the plugin.

Just another point. The event aggregator plugin was a great plugin. Its most useful function was to import events from Facebook. 90% of my calendar was populated this way. Now Facebook has stopped the import function but you still have kept your plugin at the same price when its best function is now useless.

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Before we dive any deeper I need to point out that we are unfortunately unable to provide support through our Pre-Sales forum channel.

Also, looking at your account I do not see any active licenses to any of our premium plugins.

If you have a PRO license – maybe with another account -, then best would be if you could log into your account and open a topic. There you can include a link to this topic to have some background information.

Also, to move forward in the meantime:

My problem is the scheduling multiple events. When I use that function …

Can you share more details on how you are doing this “scheduling multiple events”? I’m sorry if it seems like I’m asking too many questions. I just want to make sure I fully understand what you are doing, what result you expect and what result you get instead, so that we are on the same page.

If you could share some annotated screenshots or a screen recording on what steps you are taking, that would help even more. Thanks!

Now Facebook has stopped the import function but you still have kept your plugin at the same price when its best function is now useless.

We are also shocked and sad that Facebook has introduced limitations.

I understand your question, I will forward it to the appropriate people.

As a sidenote, in the beginning import from Other URL / Other TEC site was not available. Once we added that functionality we kept the price at the same level.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Leslie,

I checked your site and it looks like you are having this issue with more events.

First, please make sure that all your calendar plugins are up to date.

If you are using a caching plugin, then clear its cache or even disable it for the duration of testing.

Try re-saving your permalink setting under Settings > Permalinks.

The event you set up is: one event lasting from October 12 to November 3, and you set up that 23-day long event to repeat every week. If it is only a 1-hour-long event, then start and end date should be October 12.

To be able to better assist you further, please share your system information with me.

Please also note, if you do not have the most recent versions of the plugins and you don’t have an active license for Events Calendar Pro (or any of our premium plugins) I will not be able to give you support, as we only support the most recent versions of our plugins, and users who have an active license / subscription.

    Thanks and cheers,
    Andras

    1. The reason that i have the end date as the end of the full period is only because the add multiple events system does not work.

    2. My original point is that as a free subscribing calendar i do not have the money to “keep all plugins up to date”. In my original post i asked what plugin controls the multiple event function so that maybe i can just spend on that plugin to get this function working. The response to “keep all plugins up to date” is a great marketing ploy. Individual plugins shouldn’t just stop working.

You calendar is a great product but extremely expensive.

For the recurring events you will need Events Calendar PRO.

Individual plugins shouldn’t just stop working.

You are absolutely right about that, and individual plugins do keep working. Events Calendar PRO and Community Events are not individual plugins though, they are add-ons or extensions to The Events Calendar.

However, if you update PRO to get the recurring event functionality working, but you leave Community Events on an old version, then recurring events might not work for Community Events.

They might as well, depending on the changes that were since done.

Let me give you an example. A while back we have switched our ‘regular’ dropdowns to Select2 for a better user experience. If we only did that in The Events Calendar, then none of the add-ons would work any more.

If you want to stay at an older version of all omitting any and all updates, you can do that. Then it’s also recommended to keep The Events Calendar “on the same level”, a version that corresponds with the release date of the PRO version. Additionally you would need to give up on support.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
