We are using Tickets Plus to set up an RSVP where users are able to tell us how many are coming to a covered dish social and what they are bringing. It’s works flawlessly for anyone who is an admin, but no one else.

It’s pretty easy to determine that it is a role permissions issue, but we can’t determine what needs to be activated to make this to work.

This is the error we are seeing – https://www.dropbox.com/s/3x1hqxacty2svr9/Screenshot%202017-06-20%2012.22.24.png?dl=0

It’s as if the Event isn’t recognizing them as logged in, even though they are. If you aren’t logged in, it tells you to login first.

On a side note, the Google map doesn’t show up unless you are logged in as Admin as I am here –

If you can point us in a helpful direction, we would appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy!

Thanks for reaching out to us! 🙂

I’d be happy to help you with those issues.

This is the error we are seeing – https://www.dropbox.com/s/3x1hqxacty2svr9/Screenshot%202017-06-20%2012.22.24.png?dl=0

You are getting this error because you did not enter a name and email address for the RSVP. Those fields are required to RSVP (even if you are logged in) , but somehow they are not showing before the “Confirm RSVP” button. This might be caused by a Javascript issue, so could you please see if there are any console errors by inspecting the page? Here’s how to do that > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-google-chrome-developer-tools/. Let me know if you see any errors.

To allow non logged in users to RSVP you should go to Events > Settings > Tickest tab and under Login requirements uncheck the option Require users to log in before they RSVP. See here > https://cloudup.com/cdGx0hreMJq

This seems strange. Could you please provide me with a link to that page? This way I can have a closer look at it and see if I can spot the problem.

I hope all that helps! Let me know how that goes and if you have other questions.

    Best,
    Victor

    Hi Jeremy!

Thanks for coming back with all those screenshots and information I asked.

I don’t see anything strange in the console that would indicate there is something wrong going on.

When you get the “Please fill in the RSVP confirmation name and email fields.” error, that’s because you clicked the Confirm RSVP button, but you haven’t stated the number of tickets to confirm. If you select a number of tickets, do you see the Full Name and Email fields like this > https://cloudup.com/c9MFdPurZic ?

I could’t try it on my own with the link you provided because I’d have to login to try it out. So, in case you don’t get those fields showed up, could you please create a test event with an RSVP ticket and send us a link to it so we’ll take a closer inspection and see if we can spot the problem? You can even select the option to Hide From Event Listings so it won’t appear in your calendar, and event password protect it and send us the password in a private reply.

    Thanks,
    Victor

When we enter the number for RSVP, it doesn’t expand as it should.

Will send the test event soon.

Here is the test even link.

    https://blackbeardsailingclub.org/event/test-event/

I also just discovered that it will ask info for every attendee. Is there a way to limit some of the questions to one per ticket?

In our example where we are asking to list a food item being brought, we don’t want to ask for a family of four to bring for different food items.

    Event is not password protected.

    Hi Jeremy!

Thanks for clearing that out and for setting up the test event.

When we enter the number for RSVP, it doesn’t expand as it should.

This could be a Javascript error that is making not to expand the RSVP fields to fill in.

I could not reproduce the issue with the test event you provided because I have to login in order to RSVP, so could you please see if there are any console errors showing when entering a number for RSVP? You can do so by following this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-google-chrome-developer-tools/. If so, please share those errors with us.

This issue, as well as the map not showing up, could be related to a theme or plugin conflict, so could you please go through the complete steps in this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ and let us know if that changes anything?

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Latest output.

Victor, I still feel this is some how tied to permissions since it seems to work flawlessly when logged in as an Administrator. Is there a capability or hook that needs to be activated for that role to work with RSVP?

    Hello Jeremy!

Thanks for sending out the screenshot. There seems to be a Javascript error coming from a JS file called responsive-menu.js, probably coming from your theme or a plugin.

I can also see that the jQuery code is getting included twice. This can also be possible due to a theme/plugin conflict.

I don’t think there are any permission issues, because to RSVP you do not require any specific role or permission. In your case you would only need to be logged in to be able to RSVP. If you don’t want to require users to be logged in to RSVP, you can change this setting by going to Events > Settings > Tickets tab and under Login requirements uncheck the option “Require users to log in before they RSVP”.

I will need you to try switching to a default theme, like twenty seventeen and see if the issue still persists. If it does, then you’ll need to deactivate all other plugins to see what happens. This way we can narrow the problem down to a theme or plugin conflict.

Please let us know what you can find going through those steps.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Thank you Victor.

Default Genesis theme works, so it is in the child theme somewhere.

I’ll note here when we figure it out.
