ParticipantI had a problem with reoccurring events multiplying over days until there were sometimes a dozen instances per day. (This issue added thousands of extraneous events to the listing.) I tried to edit the rules and exclusions, but the controls didn’t appear, so I manually deleted all these events.
Now, the system isn’t replicating reoccurring events properly. Instead of displaying an instance in 2 days, it only displays the first day, even though the 2nd instances is in the Events listing. For events that occur multiple days over multiple weeks, the event is only being displays for a single day over multiple weeks.
I’ve tried editing, deleting and re-entering, but I can’t get this to work. It’s taken up much of my time this weekend. I’d really appreciate some support so I can get these events site content correctly displayed, and attend to other content.
Thanks

ParticipantHey Gregg,
I’m so sorry for the trouble here. We are investigating some issues with recurring events that cause the behaviors you describe here.
We are working on a fix. To help my investigate your specific instance of this issues, though, can you post your site’s complete “System Information” to this thread? You can do so in a “private reply” if you want to keep that information hidden from the public (only you and us on the support team can se your Private Replies).
Here is how to post that information → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
☝️ This would be a great help.
Sorry for the trouble here, Gregg! We may have a fix as soon as this week for the issues, so I will post updates in the meantime if I have any more word on that fix.
Cheers,
GeorgeJuly 11, 2016 at 9:29 am #1138174George
ParticipantHey Gregg,
About half an hour ago we published version 4.2.2.1 of Events Calendar Pro—this includes a fix for these issues.
Please try updating to this version of Events Calendar Pro (while making sure that your version of The Events Calendar is up-to-date at version 4.2.2, as well).
This should prevent the problem from happening again. If you have many instances of recurring events that you want to delete, I’d recommend searching for a free “bulk deletion” plugin on WordPress.org. There are many options—choose one that looks right to you, and it should help with the process of deleting many events at a time.
Let us know if the update helps!
Thank you,
GeorgeJuly 12, 2016 at 6:53 pm #1138955Gregg
ParticipantI updated the plugin, and it fixed the bug with the multiple occurrences per day.
However, now reoccurring events are only showing on the calendar sporadically. The site is for a summer tourist town and shows nightly 5 nights a week on various nights. However, only one listing shows, or one listing per week. I’ve tried to discern some pattern, but there isn’t one.
Very frustrating … Please let us know what’s happening. The site is used daily, and the issue will cause credibility problems if listings are partial.
Thanks

ParticipantI’m having the same issues after updating to 4.2.2.1
Either I’m getting flaky behaviour on the front-end, or the orange progress bar just gets to about 56% and then stops.
I waited nearly an hour to try and get about 20 events populated. The recurring event had custom recurrence – tuesdays and thursdays at the same time until december.
I’m also using event tickets pro, but the problem occurred before I had even created a ticket bfore the event.
I’ve spent hours trying to troubleshoot this and the client is getting really antsy.July 14, 2016 at 6:07 am #1139608Gregg
ParticipantHi Support – when can we expect a response to the latest issue with reoccurring events? Even a “we’re looking at it” would be appreciated so I know it’s being looked into.
Thanks Gregg

ParticipantHey Gregg,
I apologize for the delayed response; we normally reply to threads at least once every 24 hours, but I had an urgent and unexpected outage and was unable to respond until today.
Sorry for the wait!
In regards to your issues, I’m sorry to hear the more oddness is persisting. I cannot reproduce the behavior you describe, so to help me investigate this a bit more, can you post your site’s complete, un-edited System Information to this thread? Here is how to do that: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
I’ll take a look at that information and recommend further steps from there.
Thank you!

ParticipantWill do. However I discovered a part of the problem.
1. The excludes aren’t being saved. I enter the days I want to exclude during the week, and publish. But when I go back in, the program hasn’t saved the excludes, and it publishes one instance of the event on the same day of the week as the initial event.
2. While the event appears as a once week event in my events list, it doesn’t appear on the calendar.

ParticipantHey George,
I was browsing the forums, and many people are reporting a similar problem with reoccurring events. Even today there are posts. They are also getting a similar answer – that your team can’t reproduce – for other support people.
Perhaps all instances of this issue need to be aggregated and addressed by the same person.

ParticipantHey Gregg,
There are indeed other reports of similar problems; we are coordinating our approach and investigation, and part of that is trying to get as much information as possible about the issues.
For example, can you confirm:
1. Are the events that have the issues you describe above events you created BEFORE the recent 4.2.2.1 update of Events Calendar Pro?
2. If you create a NEW series of events, just for testing purposes, does this new series have the same problems as the existing ones that you describe?
3. If you do step #2 and the events DO have the same issues, then what if you deactivate ALL plugins except for only The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro; and then activate a default theme like Twenty Twelve, Twenty Sixteen, etc.; and then, in this state, try creating a new recurring event series. Does this series have all of the same problems as the existing series you described above?
Thank you for your patience and cooperation here; I totally get how frustrating these issues can be, and we are determined to get to the bottom of what is going on so that we can fix it.
Sincerely,
GeorgeAugust 5, 2016 at 9:35 am #1148239Support Droid
