MemberSorry to confuse, Joel. I misunderstood your previous reply.
I saw “edit inside of the plugins folder” and “include dirname( __FILE__ ) …” and my red flags went off.
In re-reading it, I was way off. My apologies!
It looks like you did everything correctly (assuming you didn’t edit any plugin core files)! 🙂
It sounds like it’s working well for you, correct?

ParticipantYep, working well, so far. I’ve only been working with The Events Calendar for a week, so I want to make sure I’m doing it right. Thanks for clearing that up.

ParticipantThe CSS solutions being offered in these threads is a poor band-aid. In the interest of providing a better, more appropriate solution than just visually hiding these things, I am going to link to my answer on another thread that, I believe, offers a more complete and appropriate solution.

MemberQuentin, your code:
add_filter( ‘tribe_tickets_plus_hide_attendees_list‘, ‘__return_true’ );
only applies to displaying the Attendees List (those who have opted-in).
There is not currently a filter like ‘tribe_tickets_plus_hide_attendees_optout‘
Sometimes we offer CSS solutions because users are uncomfortable with PHP snippets, don’t want to override something via the Themer’s Guide, or speed of implementing a solution is important and they’re comfortable with CSS.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Yes, my response also includes the necessary template overrides to remove the optout checkbox. I understand CSS solutions in many cases are “good enough”, but in a case where you are potentially exposing user data on a public site without their knowledge, a CSS only solution is inadequate, and irresponsible on the part of Modern Tribe. At the very least your responses should include the CSS as well as PHP solutions, and encourage the PHP ones primarily, as they are the most responsible fixes for the end user.
The whole rollout of this feature has completely ignored privacy concerns and made it more difficult than it should be to fix. Especially if you upgraded before the 4.1.2 “fix” release that turned it off by default. I have several sites using ETP, and with the upgrade to 4.1.1 we had hundreds of events automatically exposing user information on public pages without consent. That kind of oversight just isn’t ok.

MemberQuentin, I appreciate your candid feedback and understand your preferences regarding PHP solutions vs CSS ones for specific things.
I’ve passed your entire response on to management.
As for this thread, I’m going to close it because I believe multiple solutions are available in these replies.

MemberHi there,
I just wanted to pop in here and give you an update. While we weren’t able to get this feature into our upcoming 4.2 release, it is still on our list of ideas to implement in future releases.
We appreciate your patience, and we will be sure to update this thread when we have more news. Thank you for your continued support, and keep an eye out for version 4.2 coming in the next few weeks!
Best,

Just wanted to share with you that a new maintenance release (for the Week of 10th July 2017) is out, including new filters to hide the Attendees List Output.
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-week-10th-july-2017/
Please update the plugins and see if the filters work for your site. Do not hesitate to open a new topic if anything comes up and we’d be happy to help.
