It seems that each time the importer runs, it creates a totally new event post with all of the same information. I’ve seen other posts in the forum about this issue and am hoping you can tell me why it’s happening and how to fix it. The URL of the calendar is below.
The URL of the ICS file we’re importing in is:
http://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/Calendar/calendar.ics
Please let me know if you need anything other information.
Thanks,
jason
September 19, 2016 at 10:17 am #1165964CliffMemberJason, sorry you’re experiencing this, and thanks for the details.
I see you’re on the latest versions of our plugins and WordPress, which is great.
Are duplicates only being created when this URL is setup as a recurring import, or are you manually importing this URL?
Have you experienced the same for other URLs or is this the only URL you’ve ever imported?

This is a recurring import.

Initially, we were using a different URL, but the client switched the calendar they’re using, so we changed to this URL. It duplicated for both URLs though.
We’re only importing one calendar using one URL. No other URLs are set up in the settings. Just the one.
September 20, 2016 at 2:20 pm #1166650CliffMemberJason, using the latest version of WordPress and all Modern Tribe plugins, http://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/Calendar/calendar.ics results in the “Unable to retrieve content from the provided URL” error message.
However, I tried it with our beta Event Aggregator plugin: http://betas.theeventscalendar.com/
Are you not experiencing the same?

We’re not getting that error. I wonder if the client hasn’t set some restrictions when they set the sharing options. I’m checking on that now and will get back with you.
Thanks.
September 20, 2016 at 4:16 pm #1166711CliffMemberSince it worked in Event Aggregator but not iCal Importer, I’m guessing it’s not something the client’s doing, but please do report back when you find out.
September 21, 2016 at 10:01 am #1167020Jason SearsParticipantOkay… can you give it another shot? They don’t think there are any restrictions.
We’re able to get the imports to run on the client’s website, so apparently it’s possible to get data to pull in. The problem is it’s duplicating the events every time the import runs.
September 21, 2016 at 1:17 pm #1167113CliffMemberI tried http://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/[email protected]/Calendar/calendar.ics again in iCal Importer (with today’s date as a limiter, which is on by default, and then without — and with all other plugins deactivated) and still got the same error again and again.
And I tried it in Event Aggregator and the preview of events worked again.
Could you please make sure you’re on the latest version of WordPress and all our plugins and then test it again and if it doesn’t act the same as my site, please share a fresh copy of your System Information Report (wp-admin > Events > Settings > Help tab)
Also, did you sign up for the beta?
September 21, 2016 at 4:57 pm #1167189Jason SearsParticipantNeed to clear out over 6000 events and re-run. It might take me a bit. I’ll report back soon.
September 21, 2016 at 5:20 pm #1167191Jason SearsParticipantI’ve got all the previous events cleared and set the ICS URL up again. The events from today forward imported as expected. Hasn’t had enough time to run again to tell whether it’ll duplicate this time or not, so we’ll need to wait for that.
On the beta, are you referring to 4.3 RC2? If so, I’ve got it downloaded. I can try installing and running that next if this test doesn’t work.
Thanks again.
September 21, 2016 at 5:49 pm #1167195Jason SearsParticipantThe new import still duplicated, so I’m trying the beta now. I’ll let ya know what happens.
September 21, 2016 at 11:33 pm #1167254Jason SearsParticipantIt seems even the beta is duplicating events. I’m not sure where to go from here.
September 22, 2016 at 3:47 pm #1167690CliffMemberEek! I had a our main Event Aggregator person double-check for us and they confirmed the bug and said we’ll look into it to fix it.
I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.
I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

Awesome! Thanks for all your work.
September 23, 2016 at 3:31 pm #1168181CliffMemberYou bet. We’ve got the bug logged and I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released (not sure how it’ll work in this case of being for a released and beta product). It’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.
I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.
