    Hello,
I’m awfully sorry but I can’t realize how to set up a recurring event.
    I have 3 recurring events:
    1. 2016-06-29 9am – 2016-07-02 17pm
    2. 2016-07-13 9am – 2016-07-16 17pm
    3. 2016-09-07 9am – 2016-09-10 17pm
Could you help me please ?
    BR,
    Maciej

Good evening Maciej and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear that you cannot get the recurring events setup to your liking.
I would love to help you with this topic.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

If you haven’t already, I would recommend reading the following guide first: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-recurring-events/

Finally, I a question about all 3 of your recurring events to help you define the correct rules.

You mention the start and end date for the 3 events, but could you tell me how long each event lasts (a few hours, a day, a week, weekends)?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Hello,
First at all: for me an event which starts on 2016-06-29 9am and ends on 2016-07-02 17pm last exactly 3 days and 8 hours, isn’t it ?
    But, nevermind.
I tried everything to setup an recurring event. Even something as simple as follows:
    Start = 2016-04-27 @ 09-00
    End = 2016-04-27 @ 17-00
Recurrence rule = every month and will end after 2 events.
With these settings I expect to see 2 events in the events calendar and in the events list.
But I can see only the first instance (which starts on 2016-04-27). Not the second one which starts on 2016-05-27.
    Please, note that :
    1. Show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views) IS NOT checked
    2. Allow users to decide whether to show all instances of a recurring event IS NOT checked
    Am I missing something ?
    BR,
    Maciej

    Good evening Maciej,

Thank you for your answers, they are really helpful in pointing you in the right direction.

Your approach is sound and it should work as you expect it, however:

Recurring events currently do not work well with WPML (we are currently analyzing how to fix that) – in other words, short of doing several manual tweaks (some of them directly in the DB), we do not currently support it. We apologize for the inconvenience.

That being said, you will be contacted as soon as a bugfix is out.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Hello,
    Very, very, very bad news.
I can’t imagine to manually define all my recurring events !
Moreover if I have to modify the content I have to do it for each instance ?
I need the functionality of recurring event compatible with WPML ASAP!
Please, give me the instructions on how to manually (in the database) setup a recurring event compatible with WPML.
    BR,
    Maciej

    Good morning Maciej,

I absolutely understand where you are coming from.
Recurring events compatibility with WPML is a huge request from our customers.

Unfortunately, as much as I’m with you in wanting this to become a reality ASAP, I cannot commit to a short term timeline.

That being said, as promised, I can guide you through the process of setting it up manually (although I am very aware that this is very far from being perfect).

    Cause of the issue:

The parent post of the recurring events though and it’s translated counterpart, are registered properly in the icl_translations DB table (as a normal post would), along with their language_code.

When the recurring event posts are created in both languages, they are not sent to the icl_translations DB table (as a normal post would).

As such, they don’t get assigned a language_code, which in turn means that they do not get returned for display because, according to the table WPML uses, they “don’t exist”.

    Here’s the workaround:

    • Deactivating and reactivating the WPML plugin forces an entry in the icl_translations DB table FOR EACH post found in the wp_posts table.
    • EACH entry created that way gets the default language assigned as its language_code.
    • It’s a bit time consuming, but manually assigning the the proper language to each of the recurring events entry freshly “created” that way  in the icl_translations DB table will make this work.

Again, my apologies for the inconvenience, but so far this is the best solution available.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
