ParticipantWe are trying to set up a recurring event on the first Sunday of every month at 12am.
When I select the following: “Monthly”, Every “1” “month”, on a “Different Day” on the “First” “Sunday”, the recurring events will populate on MONDAY instead of Sunday.
When I switch it to “First” “Saturday”, the recurring events will properly populate on Sunday. This is a functional, but unacceptable workaround. Is there something wrong with the dates in the backend code? Is there something we can fix on our end? IS there a snippet we should be looking at to see about fixing this issue?
Running WordPress 4.7.5
Events Cal Version 4.5.8.1
Events Cal PRO Version 4.4.14
Total ThemeIf you think there is something wrong with any of our versions, we unfortunately cannot run WP 4.8 yet due to internal security protocols.

MemberHi, Young Mi.
Did you possibly try creating this event on Monday? Something we’ve seen before:
- On a Monday, you select recurring > weekly > it auto-selects Mondays as the repeating day
- vs.
- On a Monday, you change the event start date to tomorrow (a Tuesday), then you select recurring > weekly > it auto-selects Tuesdays as the repeating day
This is the same way Google Calendar’s interface works as well, for example.
Please let me know your thoughts on this.
Also, please make sure to update to the latest versions of all our plugins.

ParticipantHmm. I just tested again and it’s working now. Trying it BOTH of the ways you suggest and trying it the way I was earlier.
I will keep testing and reach out again if necessary. Thanks

ParticipantActually. Just tested again, and it is still causing issue when I set the Event time to 12am.
It seems like it must be timezone related? If I use the default time of 8am, it works fine and populates as normal. If I adjust it back to 6am, it creates the recurring events on the subsequent day (Monday).

MemberI see your site is set to Los Angeles time zone (currently GMT-7) so 6am minus 7 hours would be a different day of the week…
My site is set to Chicago time zone (currently GMT-5) so I created a new recurring event on today’s date at 4am, but I didn’t experience what you are saying your site is doing. Instead, the Month View did display this recurring event properly on today’s date and each weekly thereafter.
Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
- Downloads / Version Numbers
- License Keys
- TEC Automatic Updates
- or TEC Manual Updates
- WordPress core updates
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.

ParticipantI CANNOT update WordPress core beyond the current version I am running. Enterprise solution, with critical dependencies.
As for Events Cal, I just updated to the following.
EC – 4.5.9
EC PRO – Version 4.4.15It is still throwing the same issue, so it is clearly something with the timezone, on our end or with the plugin. If you could provide some solutions that may help address or discover the cause, it would be appreciated. Hoping to solve this issue as we do like the plugin, but the recurring event functionality is critical requirement that needs to work properly for us to utilize the plugin.

MemberThose are the latest versions of those 2 plugins, so that’s good.
If you change your timezone from Los Angeles (and test a 6am event), can you change your timezone to Chicago and test a 4am event and replicate the issue?
Would you be able to share a screen capture video so I can make sure I’m attempting to replicate the issue correctly?

ParticipantChanging the timezone to Chicago didn’t change anything. The error still persists when the time is set at 6am (its fine at any time after. See screen shots of 6am/8am).
So it must be a TIME related issue???
Seems like we’re honing in on something…

MemberSince I’m not able to replicate this behavior, my best guess is that it’s related to:
- Your server timezone is set to Los Angeles but should be UTC.
- And/or you have another plugin or some custom code in place that utilizes date_default_timezone_set(), which is typically bad practice unless they then set it back to what it was right away — typically should be set to UTC.
Please do your site setup so the System Information Report’s “SERVER TIMEZONE” entry reads “UTC”, then try to replicate this issue.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
