ParticipantEver since your update, recurring events are absolutely haywire. If I set an recurring event for July 7th to recur every Sunday through September 4th. It creates A TON of duplicates and goes before and after the dates I stated when creating the event. I have had to go into the actual database and clear out the entire calendar entries as it messed the whole thing up. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

ParticipantHey @Tyler,
I’m really sorry to hear about this! I cannot recreate issues with recurring events as you describe, but am happy to investigate this so that we can see what’s going on.
To help us investigate, can you do the following things?
1. Please share a screenshot of the complete “Time & Date” section of the problematic event on its edit screen. This is the section of the edit-event screen where the recurrence information is located. I know you describe the recurrence in your post above, but seeing the exact configuration is important just to confirm and so that we can recreate things exactly (for testing). As an example of the type of screenshot I am referring to, here is a screenshot of the “Time & Date” section of an event on my own site → https://cloudup.com/csUNd9JZAWY
If you share a screenshot like that, then it will be very helpful!
2. Can you confirm if this issue only seems to affect a certain recurring event, or certain recurring events? Or does it seemingly affect ALL recurring events? If only one event or a few, can you share links to these specific events on your site?
3. Last, but certainly not least, can you post your complete, un-edited System Information to this thread? You can click “set as private reply” before submitting that reply if you would like to keep that information hidden from the public (so that only you and the support team here can see it). Here is how to post that information → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
If you can provide these details, it will help us investigate this and work towards a fix.
Thank you!

ParticipantI have attached screen shots.
I have disabled every plugin but the events calendar and tried it again and it still isn’t working right. If I create and event from July 10th to September 4th and to recur on every Sunday, then it should only create 9 posts. However, it is creating 33 posts with duplicates. If I go in the “all” event and edit a time, then it just ends up creating more and more events until the list is over a thousand. I had to go into the actual database to get rid of the posts.

ParticipantHey Tyler,
Thank you for this!
1. Can you post your System Information as well? Here’s how to do that → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
2. Can you confirm if this happens with ALL recurring events regardless of their configuration; or does it only seem to happen with a few specific events?
Thank you,

ParticipantHey Tyler,
About half an hour ago we published version 4.2.2.1 of Events Calendar Pro—this includes a fix for these issues.
Please try updating to this version of Events Calendar Pro (while making sure that your version of The Events Calendar is up-to-date at version 4.2.2, as well).
This should prevent the problem from happening again. If you have many instances of recurring events that you want to delete, I’d recommend searching for a free “bulk deletion” plugin on WordPress.org. There are many options—choose one that looks right to you, and it should help with the process of deleting many events at a time.
Let us know if the update helps!
Thank you,
GeorgeJuly 14, 2016 at 12:00 pm #1139879Tyler
ParticipantI have updated to the new version and it is still happening. I have even junked my WordPress Site files and started over fresh. I have noticed an error in the debug log that is as follows.
tribe_get_events was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 3.8! Setting eventDisplay to ‘upcoming’ is deprecated. Please use ‘list’ instead. in /wp-includes/functions.php on line 3842

ParticipantI’m sorry to hear this, Tyler!
To help me investigate further, can you post your site’s complete, un-edited System Information to this thread? Here is how to do that: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
As for that error message, does it persist if you activate a default theme on your site like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Sixteen, etc?
Thanks,

ParticipantThank you for posting this, Tyler.
I’ve looked through your system information and didn’t spot anything outright problematic, nor was I able to recreate this problem on my own testing site using the same exact recurrence configuration as the event you shared a screenshot of.
With this in mind, then, to further help troubleshoot here:
1. Does that recurring event have any “exclusions”? If so, can you share a screenshot of the recurrence info that includes all of the exclusions?
2. Can you try making a NEW event—just for testing purposes—that has the same recurring event configuration as the one you shared a screenshot of here? Now that you have updated to the newer versions of our plugins, I am curious if the same problem will arise with this new, post-update Test event.
Thank you!
