Dev site almost ready to launch at:
    http://www.soco.hoffmangraphics.com/calendar.

    Questions:
    1) If you have an event with one evening performance and one matinee the recurring doesn’t seem to work well since the times are different. Am I missing a trick or do they each need to be entered separately. In that case, is there a way to COPY that event and just change the time or do we need to re-enter it entirely?

    2) on a related matter, when there’s multiple event instances is there a way for the calendar to display the start times? I know they show up on the fly out and on the page but the calendar itself doesn’t list times. It’s possible that’s some customization we did that I’ve forgotten about! Should it show the time? In which case maybe we didn’t want it showing the END time or “all day” so removed it?! Not sure.

    3) The list of events in the dashboard lists every instance of a recurring event. If we need to edit something how do I know which one to edit so they ALL get the change?

    Thanks,
    Sheila

    Hey Rob! Thanks.
    1) glad to hear more is coming on recurring options
    2) not, they mean on the grid. so for instance in this capture: http://www.hoffmangraphics.com/downloads/matinee-evening.jpg
you’ll see that on July 16 the same event appears twice. To the client that looks like an error. One is a matinee and one is an evening performance. They want the times to display. BUT they really only want the start times. So this is a FEATURE REQUEST… to be able to list NO time or list START time ONLY!

    3) Yes, I figured that out after posting and I’m going through all the manually migrated events now. The volunteer doing them didn’t get the categories selected correctly. We need to have TWO selected for each event, one for location and one for event type, so both can be searched for from the custom drop downs I had Sam make.

And that would be another FEATURE REQUEST… it would be nice to have a search function for the calendar (separate from the site search) and also to be able to EASILY search/list on multiple categories!

    Thanks Rob.

OK, so I’ve worked out with the client that we don’t need dates on the grid. When there’s a matinee and evening performance they’re entered separately anyhow so they’ll simply add the word matinee to the afternoon listing which will differentiate it.

Do I need to make those feature requests in a specific place or are they noted from here?

Thanks for the follow-ups, Sheila. On your points from the first follow-up:

    2. Ah, I see what you’re saying here. This would require a little extra customization and I could get Jonah to take a look and try to point you in the right direction…but it looks like based off the note after that this is unnecessary. Correct me if I’m wrong there.

Advanced search is definitely in the works. We just yesterday decided to incorporate category-based dropdowns on the grid if users want it, and we’re trying to add that into our release that’s out the first week of July (2.0.8). An even more in-depth search for events nearby, etc will probably be released shortly thereafter.

Where feature requests beyond what I just mentioned are concerned…generally the best place for them is the dedicated thread here on the forums (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-calendar-pro-feature-requests/). We are using that to help determine future release cycles and so anything posted is given a vote accordingly.

Hope that helps. Let me know if it didn’t and I can get you what you need.
