Either I’m not understanding how to use the Recurrence Rule Feature properly or it isn’t working properly for me. Here is an example: I would like to add an event that occurs on Wednesdays (starting 9/21/16 and ending 10/26/16) that is from 12PM-3PM and from 5:30PM-8:45PM. Rather than adding these as 2 separate events, I thought I could use the Recurrence Rule to have them as the same event with 2 different times on the same days. Please see attachment to see how I used the Recurrence Rule. However, after I updated/added the event and went and looked at the calendar on my website to see if it worked, it did not. There are all kinds of funky things going on. On 9/21 it only shows up from 12-3 but the 5:30-8:45 time is not showing at all, on 9/28 both times show up properly, on 10/5 & 10/12 the 12-3 time shows up properly but the 5:30-8:45 time shows up TWICE, on 10/19 & 10/26 the 12-3 time does NOT show up and only the 5:30-8:45 time shows up properly. I have no idea what’s going on! Any input you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Amy, no this functionality currently isn’t possible. You should create the 2 time slots as 2 separate recurrence series. Sorry for this limitation.

You could request this as a new feature (or maybe search to see if the idea was already posted by someone else) at our plugins’ UserVoice page.

This allows others who are interested in that feature to easily voice their support. We frequently review suggestions there to find out which ones are popular, then we implement as many of them as we can.

If you post it / find it, feel free to link to it from here in case anyone comes across this forum thread in the future.

Ok, but then what is the purpose of the Recurrence Rules and giving the ability to “add another rule” (with different dates/times) within one event listing? I’m wondering when I would use this/what it’s for if it’s not for adding an event that has 2 different times.

Also I have a couple of other questions on different topics. Do I need to start a new thread or can I just ask you those as well?

    Thanks,
    Lindy

    Lindy/Amy, thanks for asking.

I will double-check about the purpose of “add another rule” to make sure I provided you accurate information.

In our forums we keep our threads focused on just one issue at a time to ensure we fully answer each of your questions/issues. Please start a new thread for your additional questions. Thanks for your understanding.

    Amy/Lindy,

I apologize for my incorrect initial reply. I logged this as a bug and marked this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.

I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Hi Cliff-
Just wondering if you have any idea when this might be resolved (days, weeks, months, etc)? I’m also wondering if I will be notified when it is addressed/resolved?

    Thanks,
    Lindy

    Hi Lindy. Yes:

I logged this as a bug and marked this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released.

    Also:

I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed…

I cannot speculate as to when it might be fixed, but it will at least be “weeks”.

The best I can do is give you a bit more insight into our Release Schedule. Since different fixes get assigned pretty far in advance, the turnaround time is almost never “days”.

I know this isn’t great news for you, but I want to set realistic expectations.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Hi Lindy!

Just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, in which this issue is no longer present.

We truly apologize for the long delay in notifying you about this.

Please update the plugins and let us know if it works for your site.

    Best,
    Victor

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
