ParticipantI am using the Facebook Events Importer to import information from Facebook. One event updated there information on the Facebook page. I decided to just use the synchronize button. Problem is it did not synchronize the correct time and date. It did not change the date and time at all even though I know it was changed to earlier.
So I thought to myself maybe I am just crazy. I then deleted then event from The events Calendar and imported a fresh copy of the event. The Event imported PERFECTLY. Date and time were correct.
My question is re-synchronize should completely wipe out the old event data and recreate it. It obviously is not doing this. As I said Deleting the event and the importing it again works perfect. I looked through the code pretty thoroughly and it seems that the resyncrhonize functionality is not getting hit at all.
When I hit the resynchronize button the following is happening.
The protected function listen is looking to see if the post_id or facebook_resync are empty. Problem is that the facebook_resync is not set as part of the post method for that button.
I logged the $_POST output before that and did not see facebook_resync anywhere in the post request. So the event actually never gets updated. It looks like currently the only way to fix this is to delete the event and re-add it.
I don’t have the time currently to look into how to fix this issue I was only able to find the problem.

MemberGood evening Justin and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us and for all your amazing suggestions.
We are sorry to hear about the resynchronize button not working properly for you.
I would love to help you with this topic.I will need to run this by our Dev team and get back to you as soon as possible.
But before I do, I am noticing that you are using a very old version of the Events Calendar Pro (3.12.5) which might not interact nicely with our more recent plugins.Best regards,
Geoff B.

Participanthttps://i.imgur.com/Ip4bPNO.png. You will see i have one update and it its from 4.1 to 4.1.0.1. I don’t know where the 3.12.5 is from cause it is always updated. Maybe the system info tool is broken. I am updating it to 4.1.0.1 but no change in the resychronize button working.
Let me know any information you may need from my end on this issue. Thanks!

MemberGood afternoon Justin,
Thank you for that additional information.
I will still run this by Dev, but I do have a couple of side notes:
- On my installs, I am successfully able to re-sync the events when there is a time change so I am wondering if there is not something else at play here ?
- Would you mind sharing with me what your timezone settings are for both the Events Calendar (found in Events -> Settings) and for WordPress in a private reply?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

ParticipantGeoff,
I think i mentioned that it is not only the time that is not resyncing but all the details of the resync process.
My timezone in wordpress is set to UTC-5.
I think the problem has to do more with the way the button not posting its name to the post request. It is very possible that your code conflicts with another popular plugin somewhere down the line.
I am going to give you administrative access to the website so you can go in and try and event out for yourself.
https://www.heartlandlodge.com/wp-adminTake a look at the following event. https://www.heartlandlodge.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=9615&action=edit
https://www.facebook.com/events/173978906308810/
This is a good event to test with because it is a past event. The time of the event is 1PM but it should be 4PM. 1PM was the old time of the event. 4PM was the new time after they updated it.Please only test with that event as this is a live event, but a past event. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know. Thanks!
Also a side note that we are not receiving any notifications at our email address [email protected] that you have replied to this thread.

MemberGood evening Justin,
Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately, our policy does not allow us to log in to clients websites for several reasons, including liability. As such, I went ahead and removed the login information you provided in the previous post.
That being said, you are 100% right. I ran this by our best Dev team members and they reached the same conclusion as you did. This looks like a conflict with another plugin.
Could you please go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out?
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
Additionally, it would still be worth testing a change from UTC-5 to something like “Chicago” for your WordPress timezone (even though I understand the impact is on more than just the time).
Finally, thank you for the heads up on email notification. We are going to look into that.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Geoff B.March 22, 2016 at 6:44 am #1092288Justin
ParticipantGeoff,
We have located the culprit plugin of the act. It is Advanced Custom Fields Pro. As soon as we disabled the ACF Pro the facebook Sync started working perfectly. Obviously a pretty major plugin to have a compatibility issue with. Try installing both and let me know if you are running into the same thing?
If you need an example install I have created a test site with only ACF Pro and The Events Calendar.
Let me know!
March 22, 2016 at 8:40 pm #1092704Geoff B.
MemberHey Justin,
Kudos on finding the culprit! However I am very sorry to hear about the incompatibility.
As you might guess, we try super hard to be compatible with the greatest number of plugins possible, but sometimes we do fall a bit short on that attempt (especially provided how many there are out there!).
Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Pro version of Advanced Custom Fields. But I did try to replicate the issue with their core version and was not able to. The synchronize button works just as it should.
So there seems to be something going on with Advanced Custom Fields Pro specifically.
As I mentioned earlier, unfortunately, our policy does not allow us to log in to clients websites, even test ones.
If you don’t mind, it would be worth taking a look at the Console from Google Chrome to see what’s going on when you try to sync (error messages and such).
Other than that, I will report this to our Dev team. But just to set expectations, I cannot commit to a fix at this point in time. I suggest you might want to do the same with the good folks behind ACF Pro.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Geoff B.March 23, 2016 at 6:08 am #1092839Justin
ParticipantGeoff,
I have already submitted a ticket to them to see where the issue may be. Hopefully they will be willing to contact you and work on a solution.
I am willing to work with you guys to find the incompatibility.
I understand you are not allowed to access the clients site in order to find the incompatibilities. What if you setup a test site somewhere I am willing to install the necessary ACF Pro so we can see the incompatibility? I mean you have to be flexible somewhat to help better the WordPress ecosystem.
I could dig in deeper to see where the issue is if need be but it would be best to show the reproduction.
I am sure you have people who use ACF Pro as do I.
Just to confirm with you. I have the following:
The Events Calendar Pro – 4.1
The Events Calendar – 4.1.0.1
Facebook Events – 4.1
Advanced Custom Fields Pro – 5.3.6.1
Fresh Twenty Sixteen Theme
WordPress 4.4.2Please let me know how we can proceed to get this issue fixed. I am willing to work with you to provide the tools to get it fixed.
March 23, 2016 at 3:13 pm #1093171Geoff B.
MemberHey Justin,
I totally appreciate you offer for help. In fact I will relay this to the Dev team.
The good news is that one of our top Dev people was very interested in this and he’s pretty confident that it can be fixed relatively easily.
Unfortunately, as stated before, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. The bugfix will have to go through the complete release cycle (prioritizing, coding, QA, etc..).
So thank you for your patience in the meantime and we are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused so far.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
March 25, 2016 at 8:24 am #1094017Justin
ParticipantThank You for this. I eagerly await a bugfix on this issue.
March 25, 2016 at 5:53 pm #1094320Geoff B.
MemberThank you for your understanding Justin.
You will be contacted as soon as the fix is out.
Happy easter!
Geoff B.
