ParticipantSince the last update I get the following error in events calendar on the event page
Warning: include(/home/vhosts/air-combat.eu/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/vhosts/air-combat.eu/httpdocs/wp-includes/template-loader.php on line 89
Warning: include(): Failed opening ‘/home/vhosts/air-combat.eu/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/index.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear’) in /home/vhosts/air-combat.eu/httpdocs/wp-includes/template-loader.php on line 89
I figured it out it was the wpm plugin. If I switch that off than the /events page works. As soon as I switch it back on I have the problem.

MemberGood evening Ingrid,
Thank you for providing us with your system information.
I believe there are several things at play here. I would love to go through them one by one with the goal of helping you get the best possible working system.
- I notice that you are using PHP 7+ . Although it’s amazingly faster than previous versions, a lot of WordPress plugins do not all run smoothly with it yet (bugs). This is the case for many WooCommerce related plugins and is certainly the case with our plugins.
Short term, I would recommend downgrading PHP to any version after 5.4x and before 7. I realize this is not ideal, but it’s truly the best thing to do for a more stable website for now.
That being said, we are working at making everything fully PHP 7 compatible on our end, so stay tuned!
- I do not know if you were aware of this, but we currently Event Tickets Plus WPML support is not quite ready yet. The good news is that we are working very hard at that in the hopes of having some substantial compatibility increase by the end of the year if all goes well.
The good news is that I have tested the latest version of WPML in combination with our latest plugins and it should work.
The odds are pretty good that downgrading PHP will fix the issue.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

MemberGood afternoon Ingrid,
Thank you for writing back.
I’m sorry to hear that downgrading PHP was not sufficient to solve the issue at hand.If you are pressed for time (and based on the fact that you said that it worked great before the last update), you could simply downgrade our plugins until we figure out what is going on.
I recommend reading the following: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/
From what we know so far, there is indeed an issue on your install with the following combination:
- Latest version of our plugins
- The X theme
- Latest version of WPML
- Some other plugins
We also know that the latest version of our plugins and of WPML with a default WordPress theme does not produce the unfortunate error messages you are getting.
To be transparent, even though the issue disappears when you deactivate WPML, the actual cause can be anyone of the elements listed above (because of the combination).
I am confident that we can pinpoint what is causing this on your end. That also means that we can then take steps to fix it.
That being said, it will require a fair amount of testing and working together with you.
I do appreciate your collaboration and patience as we go through this process. With that in mind, there are a couple of other things worth trying:
- Can you actually go to the <b>/httpdocs/wp-includes/</b> directory and see if the <b>template-loader.php</b> file is there ?
- Can you head over to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting page , click on the first 3 buttons in the Cleanup section and then re-save your site’s permalinks ?
- Could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

MemberGood evening Ingrid,
Thank you for the files.
Using the Default Events Template under Events -> Settings -> Display, I was able to reproduce the issue.
I also noticed that this is the only setting in that dropdown menu that might display the calendar.
All the other settings, even “blank page” will not display the calendar. To be fully transparent, although we do try to make our plugins compatible with the most amount of themes possible, sometimes there needs to be some customization to fix some incompatibilities.
This has unfortunately been the case a few times with the X theme (which is a great theme, that being said).
Based on the fact that you said that it worked great before the last update), you could simply downgrade our plugins until we figure out what is going on.
I recommend reading the following: <u>https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/</u>
I would recommend browsing the theme’s forums or contacting the theme’s author to enquire about the incompatibility.
I have opened a ticket for this bug.
Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date for a fix at this point. But you will be contacted as soon as there is one.
Best regards and thank you for your understading,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
I downgraded but it did not work. The X theme upgrade probably caused the problem. Until their is a solution I have chosen to use another event calendar form Timely. I will wait until you have a solution.
Thx for your help
Ingrid

MemberGood evening Ingrid,
Thank you for writing back.
I’m really sorry to hear that you had to resort to a different calendar solution.
Based on some additional research, it looks like you are right.
The last X theme upgrade seems to be the culprit here.
With that in mind, I believe downgrading your theme would also have been an option. As promised, on our end we will look for a compatibility solution.
Thank you for letting the theme authors know about it. It does not look like they are going to take additional steps about it, which is unfortunate. The good news is that has been identified by other users as a legitimate bug which is now one of our top priorities.
Best regards, and as promised, we will let you know as soon as a fix is out.

ParticipantHello!
I wanted to post a quick note here that we have published a new Maintenance Release today that should address some of the problems reported in this thread.
You can read about the details of this release here → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-events-calendar-4-3-2-event-tickets-4-3-2-premium-plugins/
I hope this update helps!
If issues persist, open a new thread in the forums and be sure to include your site’s complete, un-edited “System Information” as per the instructions in this knowledgebase guide.
Cheers,
George - I notice that you are using PHP 7+ . Although it’s amazingly faster than previous versions, a lot of WordPress plugins do not all run smoothly with it yet (bugs). This is the case for many WooCommerce related plugins and is certainly the case with our plugins.
